lda fails in parse_angle_addr if sieve is enabled
Hi all,
Reverted back to 2.2.34 and pigeonhole 0.4.22 and (after reverting
config changes) it's working again including Sieve.
I was notified of commit
https://github.com/stephanbosch/dovecot-core/commit/6553f20bb31b5f0eebb73a0db526f00816b47d71
which I'll try. It's in a different option -f (not -d) but will try.
Cheers, Bernard.

lda fails in parse_angle_addr if sieve is enabled
Hi,
Since updating to 2.3.1 on my FreeBSD mailserver mail delivery using
lda is broken if I have sieve enabled.
(Before updating this was 2.2 and pigeonhole 0.4)
FreeBSD 11.1-p8 amd64
Dovecot 2.3.1
Pigeonhole 0.5.1
Mailflow is OpenSMTPd as MTA, using mda delivery to rspamc which
utlimately delivers using dovecot-lda.
smtpd.conf
deliver to mda "rspamc -h scan --mime -e

lda fails in parse_angle_addr if sieve is enabled
Hi Stephan,
Shared the message to you in person only via separate mail.
With to Return-Path, I've not seen any difference in failures, all
messages were consistently failing with the same error.
Thank you! Bernard.

Dovecot LMTP rejecting mail from address with apostrophe
Hi,
I have an OpenSMTPD / Dovecot installation on an OpenBSD server. I recently came across an issue where Dovecot LMTP would reject a message sent to a local user from an address which contains a single apostrophe (e.g. firstname.o'lastname at example.com). Apparently apostrophe, as well as a number of other special characters, are valid characters in the local part of the email address

http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailServerOverview contains poppycock
Just having another look at http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailServerOverview
, it seems to have some statements in it which are misleading, and some
which are really ... well ... wrong.
Quote: "With the possible, optional, exception of the deliver MDA,
Dovecot is not involved with reception, delivery, and storage of mail.

deliver vs lda
deliver is the binary name. but it's configured inside protocol lda {}
section. This is getting annoying, any thoughts on what would be a good
unifying name?
a) deliver binary, protocol deliver {}
b) lda binary, protocol lda {}
c) dovecot-lda binary, protocol lda {}
d) mda binary, protocol mda {}
e) dovecot-mda binary, protocol mda {}
f) something else?
In any case protocol lda {} would

Sieve puts incoming message into inbox on any problem with submission_host
Hello dovecot-users,
I have a question/suggestion regarding the submission_host feature of
the lda (either via dovecot-lda binary or lmtp) in combination with sieve.
When trying to deliver message to a mailbox and this message has a sieve
redirect action applied to it, dovecot is using the configured smtp
server to forward the message just fine. Unfortunately, if the server

Dovecot delivering mail in the wrong directory location
Hello everybody,my new server is setup with postfix as a MTA and dovecot as
a MDA,
mysql is used as a user db, and postfixadmin is used to setup accounts.
Login via pop works fine, also sending via smtp works fine.
HOWEVER: when i sent a mail by hand via smtp it is delivered in the wrong
directory.
For example for test at xdatasystem.com i have the following directory:

Dovecot, Postfix and Dovecot LDA (LMTP) delivery
Hi list,
I am running a Debian Lenny machine with Postfix 2.5.5 and Dovecot 2.0.8. Up
until now I ran Postfix with the Procmail delivery agent succesfully. The
machine has only local users; I am not using virtual mailboxes. Due to obvious
reasons I want to switch to Dovecot LDA delivery, through LMTP.
I spend quite some time finding 'the' configuration for both Postfix and

Missing Emails
I reported a problem with disappearing emails on my Apple Mountain Lion server. Not sure if it ever stopped but I do know it is happening again.
Help!!!! This is a company email server. They live and die by their emails.
Emails show up in inbox and then disappear.
Anyone know why our emails are disappearing?
I see a reference to it in the dovecot.index.cache file (last item)

Dovecot-LDA to generate Mailer Delivery Subsystem messages. The following

Your message was automatically rejected by Dovecot Mail Delivery Agent.
The following reason was given:

as Matt writes your MDA (aka dovecot-lda) returns with an exit code != 0
and your MTA should queue the message for later re-delivery.
IMHO, you
