( The data comes from Keiding and Klein artricle published in the Statistics in Medicine 1996) . rsync 2.5.0 and cygwin
I think this issue is cygwin related, but I am not getting much response from the cygwin list so I'll try here. I have installed rsync 2.5.0 on both an NT and Windows 98 running cygwin. On the Windows 98 box it appears to be writing the files everytime rsync runs. Here are the stats from the -v option: NT 1st pass wrote 432 bytes read 214537 bytes total 587944 speedup is 2.74 NT 2nd pass

Blocking and Nested ANOVA Design. Am I using the aov() function correctly?
Dear list members, I am new member and fairly new into R world! I hope what I have is not beyond the purpose of this list. I did first search for similar experimental designs without success. I want to perform an ANOVA analysis using the aov() function. I am not 100% sure that I have it right. If anyone can help me, that will be greatly appreciated. My design is not balanced for any of the

Problem with "apply"
Hi R users, I am trying to assign ages to age classes for a large data set (123,000 records), and using a for-loop was too slow, so I wrote a function and used apply. However, the function does not properly assign the first two classes (the rest are fine). It appears that when age is one digit, it does not get assigned properly. I tried to provide a small-scale work-up (at the end of the

[BioC] problem with function
Hi Christian, Chuck (and lists) It seems that the problem may be the strange behaviour of 'unstack' inside a function. See this thread in the R mailing list: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/03/1160.html Anyway, I got round the problem by using 'aggregate' instead of converting to a list and then tapply to sum values of metric. Probably more efficient as well. Thanks

help with function
Hello List I'm moving this over from the bioC list as, although the problem I'm working on is biological, the current bottle neck is my poor understanding of R. I wonder if someone would help me with the following function. cumulMetric <- function(deMirPresGenes, deMirs){ ??? #need to match position of each miR in deMirPresGenes with its FC to form a vector of FC in correct order ?

Loading an S object into R
I hope you'll all forgive me for displaying my severe lack of knowledge on this topic, and I can't really provide much in the way of reproducible code. A colleague of mine has asked if I know how to import an S object into R. The object is stored in a file named 'pre3.f' When I open the file as a text document I get what's printed below. Being one of those young bucks with

help for segmented package
Hi, I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has 14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!. The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range. Since my problem is time related problem. So I

[OT] R on Atlas library
Dear List, I am aware this is slightly off-topic, but I am sure there are people who already had the problem and who perhaps solved it. I am running long-lasting model fits using constrOptim command. At work there is a linux computer (Quad Core, debian) on which I already have compiled R and Atlas, in the hope that things will go faster on that machine. Atlas offers the possibility to be
