How consistent is predict() syntax?
I have a situation where lagged values of a time-series are used to predict future values. I have packed together the time-series and the lagged values into a data frame: > str(D) 'data.frame': 191 obs. of 13 variables: $ y : num -0.21 -2.28 -2.71 2.26 -1.11 1.71 2.63 -0.45 -0.11 4.79 ... $ y.l1 : num NA -0.21 -2.28 -2.71 2.26 -1.11 1.71 2.63 -0.45 -0.11 ... $ y.l2 : num

KVM guest fails to boot cleanly
I have a KVM vm running CentOS-6.8 on a host also running CentOS-6.8. This instance is used for occasional development projects which require segregation. Thus it is seldom accessed. At some point in the recent past this guest developed an issue with starting. Specifically these messages were found in the system log files: /var/log/messages-20170312:Mar 10 16:31:06 vhost04 kernel: dracut:

awful i/o performance on xen paravirtualized guest
Hi. I'm testing a centos 5.4 xen PV guest on top of a centos 5.4 host. for some reason, the disk performance from the guest is awful. when I do an import , the io is fine for a while then climbs to 100% and stays there most of the time. at first I tougth it was because I was using file-backed disks, so deleted those and changed to LVM, but the situation did't improve. Here's an

I'm using the "psych" package and have tried other methods such as writing a loop to extract semi-partial correlations, but it does not seem to be working. How can I accomplish this? library(psych) > set.cor(y =

read.table performance
** Disclaimer: I'm looking for general suggestions ** I'm sorry, but can't send out the file I'm using, so there is no reproducible example. I'm using read.table and it's taking over 30 seconds to read a tiny file. The strange thing is that it takes roughly the same amount of time if the file is 100 times larger. After re-reviewing the data Import / Export manual I think

Post-login script with LDAP virtual users
Dear sirs, I'm working on Post-login script for migrating 40K Courier-imap users to Dovecot. After reading related topics about post-login script in your documentation, mailing list, I cannot remove the problem described here-below. Is there any special config to add when users are virtual (authentication and user info is fed by LDAP server). I would be grad if anyone could give me advise.

bug in cor.test(method = "spearman")
Dear R developers: There is a possible bug in calculating the p-value for Spearman's rank correlation. Line 155 in file R-patched/src/library/stats/R/cor.test.R is as.double(round(q) + lower.tail), I think, it should be as.double(round(q) + 2*lower.tail), The reason is that round(q) is expected to be an even number (the S statistic), so the next feasible value is round(q)+2.

xfig device
Hi, I am VERY interested in getting the xfig driver so that I can edit graphical output from R. Searching through the mail archives and reading documentation isn't helping. Is there or isn't there a working driver for this purpose. How can I get it? I tried looking at the development version of the tarballs, but I didn't find anything that looked promising in there. Also, does
