Sound drop out with totem. mplayer Can't open audio device /dev/dsp
Hey all. This morning I found that my audio playback is randomly sprinkled with sound skips and dropouts. I went to /var/log/yum.log and found this: Feb 09 20:18:22 Updated: lame-3.99.4-2.el6.rf.i686 I'm not saying that caused the problem but it's all I could find that changed. When I ls in /dev there is no dsp entry. That would explain why mplayer Can't open audio device

Audio weirdness on CentOS 6.2 with flash?
Hi List, I have an ASUS G73S laptop with our favorite OS installed and all up-to-date. Sound has always "just worked" When I use the Preferences>Sound app I can setup the hardware, input, output and was overall very impressed. One can check each speaker and the laptop has a front left and right and also has a bass speaker which seems to be connected to the left rear. The various

Wine release 0.9.21
This is release 0.9.21 of Wine, a free implementation of Windows on Unix. What's new in this release: - OpenGL restructurations. - The usual assortment of MSI improvements. - Several Richedit fixes. - WCMD Winelib app renamed to CMD for compatibility. - Many improvements to the Wintrust DLL. - Some code cleanups. - Lots of bug fixes. Because of lags created by using mirrors,

Which version ? Advice please.
I have got wine 0.9.21-15.1 installed in Suse 10.0, but Yast Online Update keeps telling me to install 20050725-3.2, as it contains "an important security update". I believe 0.9.21-15.1 is the latest version, and I can see how Yast might be getting confused (I think it was mentioned in this group a while ago), but could some one please re-assure me that the "security" reason

Toshiba's ConfigFree under Wine?
Hello ... I have been trying to install Toshiba's ConfigFree software under Wine-0.9.21 (Adam Schreiber's pre-built package For Slackware-10.2) on a laptop running Slackware Linux (10.2), and I keep running into trouble. I have made sure to run winecfg before starting, so I think I should be ready to go. The installer ("setup.exe") starts, and the dialog boxes appear to

games:COH/C in wine
I know that City of Heroes/Villains doesn't work in wine right now and I couldn't find much on the wine website that looked like anyone was actively working on it, but I am very interested in playing this game in Linux. I have zero programming skills, but I do have some free time and would be more than happy to test stuff out and give feedback and/or to hunt through forums and google

game - WOW BC installed and playing
Just wanted to let anyone that is wondering about the World of Warcraft Burning Crusade expansion that it all seems to work fine. It installed straight from the disks with no problems and patches worked fine with no work arounds. The text on the large buttons on the install screens is still super small and hard to read, but if you squint and tilt your head you can make out what it says. :)

Launch Linux version of Firefox from Lotus Notes 7?
hopefully it's not bad form to cross post from comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine to wine-users....I apologize if so. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I'm running Notes 7.0.2 and have tried 2 versions of wine so far (0.9.30, 0.9.29). I'm going to try some in the 0.9.19-0.9.21 range since those seem to take care of another problem I've got, but my gut
