CentOS7/Mate Qt bugs/features?
We have recently migrated from CentOS6/Gnome to CentOS7/Mate - and have noticed 'glitches' with some Qt applications that appears to be linked to the 'org.mate.Marco.general' 'compositing-manager' setting - and wondered how we 'fix' the issue ... Below is a PyQT4 python script that shows the issues: 1. With 'compositing-manager' set to 'true' (I

Mate on Centos 7
I have been running Mate on Centos 7 for some time but it does not work very well on my HiDPI laptop screen. Today I found that I am running version 1.16 of Mate whereas the current version is 1.22. Undoubtedly many of the issues have been fixed since 1.16 was released in 2016... However, EPEL only provides 1.16 - a release from 2016 - and nothing later. What is the recommended way to upgrade to

mate-terminal crash when using drag-n-drop tabs
We're using mate-terminal (1.16.3) from EPEL on CentOS 7.4 with the Mate desktop, but mate-terminal crashes when we do the following: Start mate-terminal, open a tab (File -> Open Tab) then with the left mouse button drag a tab and drop it in the same terminal window - and the terminal window crashes ... I did a bit of Googling, and found this issue reported in earlier releases of

Desktop lag with CentOS7/Mate and high CPU usage
We have noticed significant desktop/UI lag on CentOS7 workstations using Mate when the CPU usage is high - i.e. the mouse pointer lags and moving windows (e.g. terminal windows) become jumpy (not smooth) We didn't see (or notice) this issue with CentOS6/Gnome2 This can easily be shown by running something like 'cpuburn' (https://patrickmn.com/projects/cpuburn/) and moving a

MATE power save and dpms
So, I am using MATE from EPEL as my desktop on one of my laptops. The screen saver was working, however the monitors (if connected via a docking station) were not going to sleep even if selected via the GUI mate power manager. I then discovered that dpms has to be initialized via the command line before it becomes available, regardless of the GUI mate power manager setting. This documentation

Possible Font problem with CentOS 7
Hi, I've got a possible font problem with a fully updated CentOS 7 system. An example with the man command. #man kill Should return the following KILL(1) User Commands KILL(1) NAME kill - terminate a process SYNOPSIS kill [-s signal|-p] [-q sigval] [-a] [--] pid... kill -l [signal] but what I actually get is the following KILL(1)

"taskbars" or "windows lists" in Wine
I am running Wine 1.2-rc7 on a Ubuntu 10.04 minimal install. I have installed X, and Wine seems to run fine. The problem is that applications that want to make a "window list" or taskbar don't draw them. It isn't a fatal error, the applications simply act like nothing happened. For instance, when I use BBClean (blackbox for Windows), it shows the panel but not the window list.

Accessibility: mouse guides for Compiz, and forthcoming contributions
Hello. [Resending the message from a subscribed address] I'm Luca Saiu. I'm part of a small but very motivated team in France, working on accessibility; you might have already exchanged some messages with my colleagues Jean-Philippe Mengual, Ksamak and Raphaƫl Poitevin. We are developing a customized version of debian using Compiz with Emerald and MATE. I've developed a relatively
