WPA question
HI I admit up front that I know just enough about wireless networking to know that I don't know much at all about it. That said, I'm hoping someone can help me learn a little bit... Specifically, could a laptop running Centos 5.1 be expected to (be able to) connect to a wireless access point using WPA2 security settings? I don't know if WPA depends on hardware support, or if

What are the chances that a package such as vlc from http://videolan.org/vlc would become included in extras? so a yum install vlc would work. Thanks, Jerry

Virtualbox on CentOS 7
Hi there, because I just noticed that there is still no RPM package for RHEL 7/ CentOS 7 for Virtualbox .... what is the safest and cleanest way to install Virtualbox on CentOS 7? Has anyone already done and can make a recommendation? CentOS 7, ctrl-alt-bksp
I've been googling, and looking at the CentOS wiki - which, btw, when I do a full search on "control-alt-backspace", gives me three pages... in Japanese, I think. How do I re-enable userspace restart X? mark

CentOS 7, firefox, and flash
I posted Friday about this oddity. Now I've got more data, and what's happening is this: if I tell noscript to enable youtube and googlevideo in one tab, not only does it affect *all* tabs, but also affects another browser window opened from the first browser window. Anyone have any clues for a workaround fix? mark

using autofs on C-7

In my use, we continue to use autofs for automounts of CIFS volumes, because as best I can tell, systemd doesn't support using the request-key infrastructure to use a user's kerberos ticket to set up the automount. -- Jonathan Billings <billings at negate.org>

RPM file download
I see a package "x246-0.120-5.20120303.el6 (i686)" available in my Add/Remove Software tool. I can't find said package in any of the repos I've searched through. Can anyone point me to a link where I can download that package to my local repo? -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^ ^ Mark LaPierre Registerd Linux user No #267004 https://linuxcounter.net/ ****

The volume control might be controlling the volume on an unused output. Well, I don't think so... there are only two choices there, Headphones and Line Out.

how to determine what's installed from a repository?
Hello all-- I am trying to determine what I have isntalled from a given repository. I have seen several references to "yum repo-pkgs" which I think is what would work for me, but "repo-pkgs" does not seem to be a part of yum 3.2.29. Is this a yum add on that I could get somewhere? -- -------------------------------------------- MzK "Way down deep, we're all

C-6, Gnome question
Hi all! Using the default Gnome desktop on Centos-6, I keep having difficulty getting the mouse pointer to lineup exactly on the edge/corner of a window when I want to resize the window. It seems that you have to have it on a line exactly one pixel in width, and I'm finding it increasingly hard to do (who, me? getting old? nah!) Wondering if there is a gnome setting somewhere among the

5.4 at last?
Now that it appears that some folks are able to get the 5.4 downloads (and a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all the centos team members who make this possible!) I'm wondering when the updates will begin flowing so that those of us running 5.3 can do "yum upgrade" and enjoy all the benefits too? Problem when opening files after installing OpenOffice 3.1 on CentOS 5.4
Hi, I have installed OpenOffice 3.1 downloaded from the openoffice.org website on CentOS 5.4 x86_64. The downloaded file is actually an archive containing RPMs. I did not use their setup tool but installed directly the RPMs I was interested in via 'yum localinstall' (my idea is in the future to put them on a custom yum repository, so that they can be managed via regular yum install /
