CentOS 7 + GNOME : all icon themes broken after update from CR
The recommended method for undo an update is
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/64069, but it's not supported if glibc,
kernel, or selinux are changed. I'd give it a try if the system is not
critical. Make backups first.

I did the update from CR, and have some pretty serious issues.? Until I blew away (by mv to a different name) the .local and .config directory trees, I couldn't log in to GNOME at all.? After doing that, I can log in, but if I do any actual work, GNOME crashes, and abrt-cli from root in vc 2 tells me that gnome-shell got a SIGSEGV.?I figure all of the updates aren't in CR yet, so I'm

As a follow-up question : is it possible to roll back the update made
from the CR repository? Sort of a downgrade to the official CentOS 7.5?

anybody else had this problem since the CR updates?
I'm running Mate on my C7 boxen, a desktop and a netbook.\
Mate comes from epel, so it's probably not a CentOS problem, but lemme
ask here in case anybody else has seen it:
some tools (nm, pavucontrol, and possibly others I haven't noted down)
no longer have the correct formatting on screen. there are no backgrounds,
i.e., backgrounds that define areas of the screen by shading or

RHEL 7.6 released
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/7/html-single/7.6_release_notes/
They silently rebased GNOME to 3.28, which wasn't in the 7.6 beta nor in
the release notes. Can't wait to see it on my desktop. Too bad we still
have to wait for 3.29, which has more fixes for the huge memory leak of
gnome-shell.

gtk3 update causing havoc
On my lab systems, the automatic updates were failing because of the
problems with ipod libraries from EPEL being in the way. It turns out
that was a good thing, because when I "fixed" it, a massive set of
packages was updated, including the new gtk3.
These packages are the ones causing problems, I think.
gtk3-3.22.10-4.el7.x86_64
gtk3-devel-3.22.10-4.el7.x86_64
In the release notes,

gnome themes
I'm looking for any easy way to make gnome a little more like KDE so my
KDE apps look nice under gnome. I also want some extra gnome themes.
Does anyone have any links on how-tos, or any ideas on where to start?

plymouth themes problem
Hi all!
I was playing with plymouth themes on a c7 box. I found a page on
redhat, in their rhel7 documentation that describes how to change to
a different plymouth screen:
plymouth-set-default-theme --list
to find out what themes are installed.
then I installed the remaining bunch the yum had available.
so then installing one by doing
plymouth-set-default-theme <theme name>
