Realplayer audio/video plays fast & noisy on nVidia HDMI connected to HDTV
Hello,
This's my first ever post to CentOS lists. Sorry if I made any mistakes. My
family is familiar with this RealPlayer Gold 11 and hesitate to use VLC or
others. I googled a lot and tried different settings to no avail. Could you
please tell me what I need to edit in order to slow down the audio/video
playback of this old player? All other apps - even some older than
Realplayer can play

No sound even without Pulse installed
I prefer to use Pulseaudio, but since apperantly I'm not allowed to do that anymore if I want to hear things out of Wine, I removed it for now. And guess what, it still doesn't work. I have two sound cards, the HDMI one in my graphics card and my regular one hooked up to the speakers, which is why I like Pulse because I can easily send different apps to different cards.
Here's my

What's the connector name when you plug in via, say, DVI? Is it "DP-1"
or is it "DVI-D-1" or whatever? You should be able to see the name in
'xrandr'. Unfortunately I don't know how the T440p is wired, there are
a few ways it could go. In some cases, even the "VGA" port is secretly
a DP -> VGA active adapter inside the laptop.
Basically I'm

Sigh ... you're on wayland. xrandr is just showing you what's passed
through via Xwayland, which is not the connector names. Let's try
something else...
grep . /sys/class/drm/card*-*/status
Should give you the status of each connector. Is it the DP-* ones that
are connected, or are e.g. VGA-1 or DVI-D-1/etc connected?

virt-manager guest and sound
I am running C7 host and pulse audio. I have a Win 10 guest with ICH9
audio. It works - but I hear artifacts. Anything to do to help audio be
flawless under guest VM ?
Currently I was just on youtube and playing a song. nothing special.
Plenty of resources on the host. The guest has 8G ram and 8 CPU.
Thanks

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi,
I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI).
No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio.
Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. Direct Sound options

I would suggest trying the NVIDIA proprietary driver from the ELRepo

CentOS 7 and 4K display
I installed C7 along with MATE desktop...
My monitor is a 4K unit but when I goto the
System -> preferences -> hardware -> Displays
there is selection for the 4K display. It stops at 1920x1080.
The var log x file shows the 4K resolutions in the file so that is good.
How do I get the selections for 4K to show up?
Thanks,
Jerry

those numbers seem wrong to me. nothing I've ever seen uses 17hz or
33hz refresh, its all pretty much 60Hz in LCD flat panel land.

Re: No sound in Wine 1.3.37 (tried known solutions already)
I am experiencing what appears to be this same problem. However, I am already running a self-compiled Wine, so that alone cannot be the solution in this case.
I am running 64-bit Debian, tracking testing. I have compiled Wine myself, from git revision b05be807583eca27dc0a4de896ba901bac54088c ("Release 1.4-rc5.").
As with the previous report, winecfg reports that it's using

Intel Displayport on Centos 7
As long as you have the DisplayPort connection on your computer and you
have the proper cable to connect it to the monitor then it's no trouble. I
had been using dual DP monitors on my last work machine. Also, note that
sometimes the PC end is normal DisplayPort but sometimes it has a mini
DisplayPort connection. Just get the right cable and it should be as
simple as HDMI.

[PATCH 0/5] drm/nouveau+amdgpu: add DP CEC-Tunneling-over-AUX
From: Hans Verkuil <hans.verkuil at cisco.com>
Now that the DisplayPort CEC-Tunneling-over-AUX drm+i915 support
has been merged in the mainline kernel it is time to roll this
out to nouveau and amdgpu as well.
I combined both in the same patch series since both depend on the
same first patch, the comments in this cover letter apply to both
and the implementation is also very similar (and
