NFSroot over wifi in CentOS 7 - graceful shutdown problem
Hi,
I've got a task to have a small number of laptops netboot Linux over
WiFi. The kernel is loaded off the USB stick of cource, it's off topic
for now.
The WPA-supplicant daemon is started early by dracut off initrd. It
works. Mostly.
The problem is that upon shutdown systemd terminates all the processes
FIRST and unmounts filesystems NEXT.
Guess what? Upon termination,

wpa_supplicant and wi
I am using a Netgear MA401 with the wi driver, and am having trouble
using wpa_supplicant to set static WEP keys. I have the wlan_wep.ko
module loaded with wlan and wi built into the kernel. My
wpa_supplicant.conf looks like this:
ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
ctrl_interface_group=wheel
network={
ssid="INTERNERD"
scan_ssid=1
priority=1
key_mgmt=NONE

how to get ASUS USB-N13 802.11n net adapter working on 5.5?
first, the short form of the question -- has anyone got that
wireless adapter working on centos 5.5 and associated with an access
point that uses WPA/WPA2 security?
and the details.
in a classroom where there is *no* wired networking at all, all PCs
have only that wireless net adapter, which works fine on windows but,
after installing centos 5.5, unsurprisingly, we have no networking.

wpa_supplicant and machine freezes
Hi Folks,
I'd like to install my USB-WLAN-Stick Netgear WG111v3.
Ndiswrapper works correct after installing Kernel-Modules from atrpm
ndiswrapper-kmdl-2.6.18-53.1.19.el5.centos.plus-1.52-16.el5.i686.rpm.
But by calling wpa_supplicant with
wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -D wext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -d
machine freezes.
My wpa_supplicant.conf:

Kernel 2.6.9.42 (.0 and .0.2) Wireless Problems
WPA-2 (WPA Enterprise) fails with the new kernel(s) using ndiswrapper
and wpa_supplicant. I haven't tried other authentication modes because
that entails changes in the wireless setup which I am loathe to make right
now. (It's a Broadcom mini pci card, so I have to use ndiswrapper with this
Dell laptop. Bummer!).

Call supplicant on link detection
Dear all,
I have a working 802.1x structure with a bunch of Cisco switches, and a
couple of NPS RADIUS servers. 802.1x auhtentication with MSCHAPv2 is
working with Windows clients and I need to get some Centos clients into the
structure. I've been using wpa_supplicant and now it would be usefull to
have an auto start script when the interface detects a link and call the

MadWiFi and WPA working only on base kernel, not plus kernel
Interesting situation:
First my system - HP NC4010, with Atheros pci mini card.
Latest MadWiFi drivers from: http://atrpms.net/dist/el4/madwifi/
and wpa from: http://atrpms.net/dist/el4/wpa_supplicant/
I had just the madwifi working back in Jul at the IETF conference. But
as open only.
I had upgraded to the plus kernel, thinking it would get my internal SD
card reader working (it

NetworkManger wireless issues - "Failed to load root certificates"/"unable to get local issuer certificate"
Hi,
I'm trying to connect my CentOS 6.8 laptop to the wireless net at work,
which is secured with WPA2 and AES. I've done this successfully in the
past using NetworkManager, but a new safety feature was recently
introduced: A CA certificate is required. After this, I've not been able
to connect. I have a DER format file, whose path I've entered in
CA certificate:

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and
hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms.
And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other
than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon).
Nice!

wpa_supplicant - an utter failure, for some reason
Hello listmates,
I feel a little embarrassed but I can not get through this one and any help
will be much appreciated.
I have a Broadcom WiFi adapter in a 64-bit CentOS 6.5 laptop. Trying to get
it connect automatically - and it just would not - no error messages,
nothing. With the same config NetworkManager connects without a hitch,
I have to compile the wl module out of an SRPM - but after

testing wireless security
I have been playing around with 3 ath based FreeBSD boxes and seem to
have got everything going via WPA and a common PSK for 802.11x
auth. However, I want to have a bit more certainty about things
working properly.
What tools do people recommend for sniffing and checking a wireless network ?
In terms of IDS, is there any way to see if people are trying to
bruteforce the network ? I see

Centos 5.3 NetworkManager success story
In the past I have not been able to use NetworkManager. It failed to
provide a connection to my WPA-PSK AP (hey don't argue WPA-PSK security
with me, I helped right the spec on it, and wrote the paper on the
attack on it! It works here, as I use it.). So I have continued to use
my set of scripts and hand-coded wpa_supplicant.conf file.
So I decided to give NetworkManager another chance
