xfs
I used to be able to 'repair' ext4 fs issue (when the boot process drops
you into emergency mode)...
but now with xfs - it does not seem to let me do that.
xfs_repair /dev/sda3
or
xfs_repair -L /dev/sda3
both say fatal error
fatal error -- couldn?t initialize XFS library
How can I repair XFS with burning a DVD and finding an external USB reader
etc...
Thanks,

xfs fsck error metadata corruption
Hi,
Everytime I restart Centos 7 I receive a error saying?
metadata is corrupt
and then I need to go through the process of mount and unmount the disk uuid then run
xfs_repair {some uuid}
or
xfs_repair -L {some uuid} which ultimately corrupts even more.
I?m running on a RAID 1 two identical drives
this has happened more then once and had to reinstall. Any way I can prevent this when I

XFS corruption reported by QEMU virtual machine with image hosted on gluster
Hello all! We are experiencing a strange problem with QEMU virtual machines where the virtual machine image is hosted on a gluster volume. Access via fuse. (Our GFAPI attempt failed, it doesn?t seem to work properly with current QEMU/distro/gluster). We have the volume tuned for ?virt?.
So we use qemu-img to create a raw image. You can use sparse or falloc with equal results. We start a virtual

XFS corruption reported by QEMU virtual machine with image hosted on gluster
Hey Erik,
I am running a similar setup with no issues having Ubuntu Host Systems
on HPE DL380 Gen 10.
I however used to run libvirt/qemu via nfs-ganesha on top of gluster
flawlessly.
Recently I upgraded to the native GFAPI implementation, which is poorly
documented with snippets all over the internet.
Although I cannot provide a direct solution for your issue, I am
however suggesting to try

XFS corruption reported by QEMU virtual machine with image hosted on gluster
First a heartfelt thanks for writing back.
In a solution (not having this issue) we do use nfs-ganesha to host filesystem squashfs root FS objects to compute nodes. It is working great. We also have fuse-through-LIO.
The solution here is 3 servers making up with cluster admin node.
The XFS issue is only observed when we try to replace an existing one with another XFS on top, and only with RAW,

XFS : Taking the plunge
Hi All,
I have been trying out XFS given it is going to be the file system of
choice from upstream in el7. Starting with an Adaptec ASR71605 populated
with sixteen 4TB WD enterprise hard drives. The version of OS is 6.4
x86_64 and has 64G of RAM.
This next part was not well researched as I had a colleague bothering me
late on Xmas Eve that he needed 14 TB immediately to move data to from an

[PATCH] NEW API: add new api xfs_info
Add xfs_info to show the geometry of the xfs filesystem.
Signed-off-by: Wanlong Gao <gaowanlong at cn.fujitsu.com>

Hi Rich,
This patch add xfs_info, and start the
xfs support work.
I'd like to add the xfs support, like
xfs_growfs, xfs_io, xfs_db, xfs_repair etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Wanlong Gao

Segfault with GridCellChoiceEditor
I have a problem.
In my application I have a few Grid objects in a Notebook. The Grid objects
are populated via GridTableBase. Certain Grid cells need to have a choice
interface (I''m artificially enforcing foreign key constraints). All this
works to the point where you try to edit the value for that cell. The
choice box renders (i.e. the drop down arrow appears) then the application

premature question on 5.6
What will be the correct way to migrate ext3 to ext4 going from 5.5 to 5.6?
Will something after the update ask if you want to migrate the file systems?
Looking forward to some file system speed ups with large files.
Thanks

UEFI booting
I installed my first UEFI disk yesterday. Seemed to go fine. CentOS 7.6
x86_64
I then took that disk "out" of that machine and put it another machine - it
seems to not even boot.
I put the original disk back in that machine and it boots fine.
I put the UEFI disk back in the machine I built it on and it works fine.
They are similar machines either and i3 and i7.
Shouldn't that work?

[PATCH] virt-rescue rewrite in OCaml
Hi, I tried to rewrite virt-rescue from C to OCaml.
Goals were feature parity with C implementation, smaller codebase and
hopefully better maintainability. I still don't know if I've covered
everything right. So, please check it out.
PS: my git send-email seems to be broken, so I'm sending it from thunderbird
Thanks!

update to 7.4
I was doing an update to 7.4 and somewhere in middle the machine died.
If I drop back to a previous kernel the machine is alive. So how do I say
"forget the previous yum update" and start all over and do it again.
Booting into the new kernel I get a kernel fault. So going back one level
on teh boot screen solves that - I just need to start the update again. How
is that?
Thanks,
Jerry

xfs_repair doesn't fix sb versionnum missing attr
I run:
xfs_check /dev/sdc10
And it reports:
sb versionnum missing attr bit 10
Then I run:
xfs_repair /dev/sdc10
And it reports output from 7 phases and "done".
Again I run:
xfs_check /dev/sdc10
And it reports:
sb versionnum missing attr bit 10
Is this how it's supposed to work?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Can CENTOS be used with ext3 or ext4 partitioning?

Using CentOS 7 to attempt recovery of failed disk
I have a disk that is flagging errors, attempting to rescue the data.
I tried dd first - if gets about 117G of 320G disk and stops incrementing
the save image any more.
Now I'm trying ddrescue and it also stops about the same point
Thoughts on how to continue past that point ?
Thanks,
Jerry

enter run level
I have a centos 4 x86_64 machine that has been working fine.
It has software RAID-1.
Now when it boots I get the GRUB screen, I get the very first
screen about loading Init then I get a prompt about:
Enter Run Level:
When I enter 3 nothing happens... This is obviously not a normal boot
situation.
First question: Why this prompt?
Second question: since it is software raid do I run e2fsck
