USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
I need to connect an older APS UPS unit to a machine running CentOS 7. Unfortunately the UPS only has a serial port whereas the computer does not. I am aware that there are USB-serial adapters but that the hardware or the drivers might fall short of expectations. Does anyone have positive experience with such an adapter? Or, conversely, would recommend avoid a particular adapter?

[PATCH v3 0/5] hvmloader: Make ROM dependencies optional
This patch set mainly allows the user to build a seabios or rombios only version of hvmloader. In addition, when building a seabios only hvmloader, Option ROMs like vgabios and etherboot are no longer required, and therefore can be disabled from the build. Dependency on the bcc compiler can also be avoided the same way. v2: Separate patches for separate issues Introduced config option to

Panic / EL6 / KVM / kernel-2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64
Since the update from kernel-2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64 to kernel-2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64 I can not boot my KVM guests anymore!? The workstation panics immediately! I would not have expected this behavior now (last phase of OS). It was very robust until now (Optiplex Workstation). I see some KVM related lines in the changelog.diff. Before swimming upstream: Does some one have problems

Can I force yum to only use http.
Our outsourced IT department has decided to use white listing on the firewalls for outbound ftp. I was given a list of sites our lab had accessed via ftp and eventually tracked them down to Linux machines running yum. They are all CentOS 5 or 6 with a smattering of 7. It is impractical to list all the possibilities since they change on a regular basis. Also any 3rd party repos we need are

Form Validation
Hi, I''ve got an interesting one here :) I have a form with three fields : serial_number initial surname now, if serial_number is entered, it must be between 1 and 64000. If it''s filled in, the other two fields must be blank. If serial_number is left blank then the other two boxes must be filled. Any suggestions? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

LUKS question
I have existing systems with un-encrypted disks. I have tried unsuccessfully to encrypt them using LUKS. Has anyone out there been able to encrypt an existing system (after the fact, so to speak)? TeX Live on CentOS 7
Hi, I just installed the OpenVAS vulnerability scanner on my CentOS 7 workstation. Everything seems to work fine, except PDF generation. The 'openvas-check-setup' script tells me that PDF generation works fine, but whenever I want to generate a report, the result is unusable and can't open in Evince or Okular. After googling a bit, I found out that several users complained that Tex

[RFC] kvm tools: Add support for virtio-mmio
This patch adds support for the new virtio-mmio transport layer added in 3.2-rc1. The purpose of this new layer is to allow virtio to work on systems which don't necessarily support PCI, such as embedded systems. To apply the patch on top of the KVM tools tree, you must first pull Linus' tree on top. Also, CONFIG_VIRTIO_MMIO=y should be set in the guest kernel. This is an early RFC,
