CentOS 7.1 user login screen can't scroll up/down
After we upgraded our CentOS 7.0 desktops to CentOS 7.1, a critical error in the graphical login screen has appeared on all 7.1 machines: We have 100+ users defined in /etc/passwd, and a list of names is presented on the initial login screen. However, it's impossible to scroll up or down in this user list to select the desired user. The middle mouse button seems to be disabled, so

Lock Screen in Gnome and using keyboard
Hello, I need to reconfigure Gnome in CentOS for avoiding that a normal user could lock screen using task bar option and/or "Super L" key (Windows Key + L). How could I configure Gnome? I need to do that in several computers, so I can't do "login" in X environment of each computer, but I need to reconfigure executing from command line (multiple SSH connections).

Limit user password by time
Is it possible with "chage" to configure a password caducity for, at most, 2 hours? I think "chage" only allows caducity for, at least, one day.

DTracing GNOME startup
Hi there, I''ve been using OpenSolaris for three months now, and I''ve started to get interested about to get my hands dirty with DTrace. Since I have an strong GNOME background, I would like to use it to help GNOME developers to find performance problems. Federico Mena Quintero, one of the Novell GNOME guys is one of the people that are working on GNOME performance stuff. He

NICs order
Hi, After installing CentOS 7 in a server with 2 NICs, system detects eth0 and eth1 in reserve order. I would like to have eth1 as eth0 and eth0 as eth1. I have forced HWADDR attribute in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-etc{0,1}, but after rebooting, order is the same... How can I solve it? Thanks.

Duplicate *.desktop entries for GNOME in /usr/share/applications
Hi, Today I noticed something strange. There seem to be a series of duplicate desktop menu entries in /usr/share/applications. Example: gedit.desktop and org.gnome.gedit.desktop Other example: nautilus.desktop and org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop This is annoying, since I usually edit some custom menu entries for my users. Now, if I edit both files for a single application, I end up with duplicate

Disabling NFS
Howdy, With 3.1.3 the option was added to disable the builtin Gluster NFS. Does that mean that the following scenario should work: 1. Disable Gluster NFS "gluster volume set <VOLUME> nfs.disable on" 2. Restart the gluster servers for good measure 3. On one of the gluster servers, mount the volume using the gluster fuse client: mkdir /export/users # In /etc/fstab add

gconftool-2 for 7
on 6 the command: gconftool-2 -t bool --list-type bool --set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/screensaver/start_screensaver false would stop the screen saver. What is it on 7. The above seems to do nothing. Also The gnome-panel process was running in 6 - it does not seem to be run in 7. How do I hide/remove the top and bottom panel? The "hide" in gconftool-2 for top and bottom done seem

Issues/thoughts re CentOS-4
This is a list of issues for discussion for CentOS-4. Most of it is based on my experience from building/maintaining CentOS-2 and observing CentOS-3. I have not seen the CentOS-4 beta yet so I don't know if any of this is already done. If these have been discussed on IRC then perhaps someone could produce a shot summary of the outcomes....? * Just call it CentOS-4 not 4.1 etc. Too
