At one point in time I wrote a script that converted gpx to kml so I could view them in Google Earth but it's been years since I did that. I don't know if Google Earth for Linux still exists. rd doc truncated with R 2.10.0
Hi, I am routinely compiling a package and since I have moved to R 2.10.0, it troncates some section texts in the doc: With the following section in the rd file: \details{ The function calls gpsbabel via the system. The gpsbabel program must be present and on the user's PATH for the function to work see <http://www.gpsbabel.org/>. The function has been tested on the following

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd seen gpsbabel, but simply converting the tracks doesn't appear to display them. Another user suggested a downloadable Google Earth, so I'll try that. Failing all else, I've used shell scripting in my day job for the last 18 years (and before that Digital's DCL for the previous 18 years). I'm just trying to avoid reinventing the wheel.

International dialing with GPX-2000 and "early dial"
I am trying to allow users to place outgoing international calls from a GPX-2000 with "early dial" enabled, connected to Asterisk 1.2.12.1 I have the following extension line: exten => _011.,n,Dial(${TRUNK}/${EXTEN:${TRUNKMSD}}) When I attempt to place a call to a number in, for instance, Kenya, I dial "011254"...etc. and I get this on the asterisk console: Executing

Mappery inquiry
Last time I tried, a few years back, Wine was not yet up to handling Garmin's proprietary topo map software. It would install, and sometimes even work, so long as I didn't try to connect a GPS to it. (The ones I have are all also Garmins -- old ones wanting a serial port.) I made a huge effort, for most of a year, with a lot of help from high-powered Alpha Plus Technoids on several

Need a faster function to replace missing data
Dear List, I need some help in coming up with a function that will take two data sets, determine if a value is missing in one, find a value in the second that was taken at about the same time, and substitute the second value in for where the first should have been. My problem is from a fish tracking study. We put acoustic tags in fish and track them for several days. Location data is supposed

USB and serial
Hello, everyone - I have an old Windows app - a ship navigation program - that needs to see GPS input on a serial port (it was written in the pre-USB days.) My laptop, however, has no serial ports - but this same program, when run on a friend's Windows box, can read the GPS info from the USB-connected GPS via the "USB-Serial Driver". This is one of the frustrating bits of this

SELinux in CentOS 6
It keeps butting in when I try to install map software from Garmin under Wine. I'm not nearly competent not willing to apply the remedy it suggests. How do I get to someplace where I can disable it, or at least set it to permissive?

Monitor Zap Status - Full E-mail...
I've installed Grandstream GPX-2000 phones and have successfully enabled one of my buttons to use Asterisk BLF for an extension. I can tell when this extension is available, is being rung, or is on the line. I'd like to do the same for my Zaptel channels, to be able to see when a line is onhook, ringing or offhook. I tried the following but alas, it doesn't seem to be working:

Need assistance connecting Garmin GPS via USB in Mapsource
I am new to Linux, Ubuntu, WIne etc but despite all that I am operating in Ubuntu 8.10, with MapSource 6.13.6 installed via Wine 1.0.1. I know there is an issue in getting MapSource to recognize the GPS while connected via USB but I am unable to understand the steps provided to solve this issue. I've been advised to enter "sudo modprobe garmin_gps" in terminal and to check the

Package XML: Parse Garmin *.tcx file problems
I'm struggling with package XML to parse a Garmin file (named *.tcx). I wonder if it's form is incomplete, but appreciably reluctant to paste even a shortened version. The output below shows I can get nodes, but an attempt at value of a single node comes up empty (even though there is data there. One question: Has anybody succeeded parsing Garmin .tcx (xml) files? Thanks! Michael

Two versions of Wine ?
From a complete Wine newbie: I use Wine to run apps related with GPS receivers. I have upgraded from 0.9.33 which came with Mandriva 2007.1 Spring to 0.9.46 from WineHQ. Net result, the Garmin Mapsource app now loads and runs perfectly, which it did not do before. But GPSMapEdit, which worked before, no longer does. Question: is it possible to have to versions of Wine installed, and use one

Garmin Trip & Waypoint Manager installer won't run
Hi, I'm trying to install version 4.0 from the CD that came with my GPS unit. I'm able to run Setup.exe and get to the initial startup menu. The links to visit the Garmin website and exit the installation work fine but when I click the one to install the app I get the hourglass cursor for a fraction of a second, like it's starting to do something, but nothing happens. This is my first
