If it had two (or more) network ports, I'd be all over it. A single gigabit nic is a bit limiting for me. Intel NUC? Any experience
Folks The price point of Intel's NUC unit makes it attractive to use as a server that doesn't have significant computational load. In my environment, a USB connected hard-drive could provide all the storage needed. I wonder if anyone has had experience with it, and can answer: 1) Does Centos6 and/or Centos7 install from a USB connected optical drive? or a USB flash drive? I'd

Shut down DN2820FYKH with power button
Hello. I've installed CentOS6.5 x86_64 on DN2820FYKH. I want to shut down with power button. But, the acpid daemon cannot work correctly. And, after I selected grub menu, the error message "ACPI: Unable to load the System Description Tables" is displayed. Does this message relate to the issue? I've checked, but the issue doesn't solve: *BIOS update ==> BIOS ver.0028 to

UEFI booting
Hi All, I received a Intel Nuc D34010WYK. nice and small. I installed 6.5 x86_64 on it in LEGACY boot mode on the mSATA disk. All worked except sound. In process of trying to get that working I saw posts about Need to not use LEGACY boot mode for HDMI sound to work. I am trying to find a document on how to use the UEFI boot on 6.5 Any great resource out there for that? Thanks, Jerry

multi-scale singular spectrum analysis (SSA)
Hi everybody! I am searching for an R implementation of multi-scale singular spectrum analysis (SSA), which was introduced by Yiou etal (2000) (Data-adaptive wavelets and multi-scale singular-spectrum analysis) and further described in Ghil etal (2002). For SSA alone I found an package recently published on r-forge: http://r-forge.r-project.org/projects/simsalabim/ I am happy about any

blame-transfer protocol on PXE boot
hpa, etal, pxelinux works great from a push of the reset button. machine boots normally. However, after i issue 'reboot' command, my box fails to find the tftp server during reboot. This looks to be happening before pxelinux has any chance to participate, so it cannot be to blame. Im seeking corroboration here before I go badgering the bios-provider here's the relevant

bibtex::read.bib -- extracting bibentry keys
I have two versions of a bibtex database which have gotten badly out of sync. I need to find find all the entries in bib2 which are not contained in bib1, according to their bibtex keys. But I can't figure out how to extract a list of the bibentry keys in these databases. A minor question: Is there someway to prevent read.bib from ignoring entries that do not contain all required fields?

KalmanLike: missing exogenous factor?
>From the help document on KalmanLike, KalmanRun, etc., I see the linear Gaussian state space model is a <- T a + R e y = Z' a + eta following the book of Durbin and Koopman. In practice, it is useful to run Kalman filtering/smoothing/forecasting with exogenous factor: a <- T a + L b + R e y = Z' a + M b + eta where b is some known vector (a function of time). Some other

serial vs console and serialonly
hi hpa, etal I found a patch against 2.06 that turned off console when serial was in use. http://centerclick.org/net4801/pxelinux/syslinux.patch This patch works, but appears to turn off the console unconditionally. I went to see how it would fit in 2.11, and it seems youve already started adding this feature. If so great, but how do I control it from a config-file ? I didnt see any new

PXE vmlinuz kernel doesn't recognize memory in Intel NUC?
Hello all! I'm hoping someone can help. I'm having 2 issues; first: When trying to load a CentOS LiveCD via PXE on an Intel NUC (NUC6CAY), I get: "Not enough memory to load specified image". The image is 1.1 gigs, and there is 16 gigs of memory in the NUC. To combat this, I found this forum post <https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1398> which suggested using
