Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Please find below some details. Code:

Realplayer audio/video plays fast & noisy on nVidia HDMI connected to HDTV
Hello, This's my first ever post to CentOS lists. Sorry if I made any mistakes. My family is familiar with this RealPlayer Gold 11 and hesitate to use VLC or others. I googled a lot and tried different settings to no avail. Could you please tell me what I need to edit in order to slow down the audio/video playback of this old player? All other apps - even some older than Realplayer can play

No sound even without Pulse installed
I prefer to use Pulseaudio, but since apperantly I'm not allowed to do that anymore if I want to hear things out of Wine, I removed it for now. And guess what, it still doesn't work. I have two sound cards, the HDMI one in my graphics card and my regular one hooked up to the speakers, which is why I like Pulse because I can easily send different apps to different cards. Here's my

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi, I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI). No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio. Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. UC su command
Try using "su -" to get a login shell. For example: # su - user -c pwd /home/user # su user -c pwd /root You are trying to run pulseaudio in root's environment with the user's permissions. Soundcard detection failing
Hello all! I'm as new to these forums as I am to Linux, so please bear with me if I fail some of the etiquette! I'm running an Ubuntu 9.04 distribution. Sound has so far worked wonderfully in Ubuntu proper (playing music in Movie Player [current default] and through Firefox [Pandora] causes two streams to play; I don't seem to have issues with mixing!) PROBLEM: Ventrilo under Wine

Thanks, Jerry
