Plymouth "Failed to read image"
I'm trying to learn more about Plymouth, but am having trouble finding sufficient documentation on it. After a rebuild of Plymouth with a few theme changes, I am getting an error message on boot "Failed to read image" and then it gives me the grub screen to boot one of the three kernels installed. Boot works fine and I actually see the proper splash once I select a kernel.

CentOS 7 + GNOME : all icon themes broken after update from CR
Hi, I just upgraded one of my CentOS 7 + GNOME desktops from the CR repo. After the upgrade, it seems like all of the icon themes are broken. Missing icons everywhere. Any idea what's going on here ? Cheers, Niki -- Microlinux - Solutions informatiques durables 7, place de l'?glise - 30730 Montpezat Site : https://www.microlinux.fr Blog : https://blog.microlinux.fr Mail : info at

kernel panic/abort during boot
Just did an in-place update from 6.1 to 6.2 on my eeepc 901 (Atom CPU). during boot, (if I hit ESC to see the boot messages) it says "starging udev" then nothing else for a few seconds, then a huge register dump scrolls by. it's too big to see the beginning of it. If I boot from the prior kernel and look in /var/log/messages, I don't see any evidence of the failed boot.

Centos8.1 Plymouthd crash 913: ply_event_loop_watch_for_timeout: Assertion `seconds > 0.0' failed.
Hi, I?m running a special initrd generated for SystemImager with a special dracut module that relies on plyouth scripted theme. It works perfectly on CentOS-6, CentOS-7, OpenSUSE-42.3, Fedora-29 (not tested later) and used to work on CentOS-8.0 Since CentOS-8.1 was released, IT chrashes with the following error: Plymouthd crash 913: ply_event_loop_watch_for_timeout: Assertion `seconds >

How to boot CentOS 7 in Text mode in default?
I have done what you said and I restarted centos7. It still goes into graph mode automatically. So what is the step I can do to go into text mode automatically? 2015-03-19 12:03 GMT-07:00 Digimer <lists at alteeve.ca>: > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- > Hash: SHA1 > > Try: > > plymouth-set-default-theme --list > > You should see 'text' and

HeartBleed in RHEL
I know I'm slightly OT here, asking about RHEL, but since Centos is now a part of RH, I'm hoping I won't be summarily ejected. I've seen several articles that listed Centos 6.x as vulnerable, but DID NOT LIST RHEL 6. I'd think that if Centos 6.x is vulnerable, then so would RHEL 6.x, since Centos is made from RHEL sources. Does anyone know for sure either way? thanks! --

Changing the centos name on boot
Hey Billings, Thanks for the response. Just a quick question, you are talking about initramfs or initrd ?? My /boot dosent seem to have a initrd.img rather does seem to have a initramfs.. how to change theme in rails 3.2.7
I''m using rails 3.2.7. I have few themes in my public/themes folder. For example in my theme-1 folder there is one index.html + style.css + few images (if required) At the time of registration user will select one theme. Now when the user will login that theme will display. I will use handle bar(http://handlebarsjs.com/) for data insertion. My main problem is that how

Gnome panels
Hi! Just installed Centos 5 (I've been running 4.x which was an upgrade from previous versions, for a long time), but this one was a fresh install. Now Gnome gives me the two panel configuration (one at top, one at bottom) but I prefer the single, larger panel at the bottom. Anyone know how to tweak Gnome to revert to the single-panel form? Thanx! -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at

Tesseract OCR enginer
Has anyone here tried the new Tesseract OCR engine that google has recently released? I gave it a whirl last night. IT compiles more or less fine on Centos 4.4 if you don't mind lots of warnings. Took a scanned image I already had that contained a column of newspaper text, GIMP'ed it to cut everything but the text, increased contrast to get rid of grayish background, saved as

fuse filesystem mount issue
Hi! I'm using the ntfs-3g module for my portable USB hard drive on Centos 5.4. When I plug it into my centos box it mounts fine, but its owned by root and nobody but root has permission to write to it. I've been perusing the ntfs-3g and fuse man pages (and other docs) and they all seem to say that the default settings should be to allow RW access to everyone. but that isn't what

I haven't heard anything more about the centos tee shirts KB mentioned a few weeks ago. Have I missed out, or am I merely being too impatient? :) -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us ----------------------------- The Lord detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness. ----------------------------- Proverbs

On my Centos 6.5 box, I have a PATA CDRW drive, and a SATA dvd drive. when playing a CD in the CDRW drive, every short while I get a sudden break in the audio while the CD is spun up. when playing the same CD in the
