From network-scripts to NetworkManager on a router : questions
Hi, I'm running CentOS 7 on all my servers, in three different contexts : 1. simple local server 2. public facing server 3. router/gateway/firewall I'm currently in the process of moving my KISS-style network-scripts-style configurations to something more orthodox based on NetworkManager. Scenarios (1) and (2) caused no problems, but (3) is giving me some headache. Let me

Network configuration: desktop vs. laptop
Hi, I'm just migrating some stuff from Slackware Linux to CentOS, and I have a question about the orthodox way of configuring a network connection. On a desktop or workstation, I usually get rid of NetworkManager: # systemctl stop NetworkManager # yum remove NetworkManager Then I edit the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-XXXXX file corresponding to my network interface. Here's

Network configuration: desktop vs. laptop
Hi Niki, On CentOS it's normal for both wireless and wired to be connected at the same time, maybe what you are seeing is just the icon's being confusing or not being replaced with the right thing? This is easy to check, just issue an "ip route". On My system I can see something like this: default via 192.168.0.1 dev eth0 proto static 192.168.0.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel

Erratic local hostname resolution with Dnsmasq
Hi, My local server is running CentOS 7. The machine has two NICs and is acting as a gateway. For DHCP and DNS, I'm using Dnsmasq. I have a strange little problem with local hostname resolution. Before going into more details, here's my configuration. [root at nestor:~] # ifconfig enp2s0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.0.2 netmask

Centos7: Intel nuc/Linksys usb-ethernet
Hello All, I'm installing some DIY routers, composed of Intel nuc's ,Linksys usb-ethernet adapters and Centos7 On most machines I just plug in the usb device, install Centos7 and everything works. But on this one machine the network interface doesn't work. After installing ip addr shows: [root at clgmol ~]# ip addr 1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue

Corosync on a home network
I've been trying to build a model cluster using three virtual machines on my home server. Each VM boots off its own dedicated partition (CentOS 7.3). One partition is designated to be the common /home partition for the VMs, (on the real machine it will mount as /cluster). I'm intending to run GFS2 on the shared partition, so I need to configure DLM and corosync. That's where I'm

I need some help in understanding libvirt's virtual networking. I have configured bridged networking (shared physical device) on libvirt+KVM system which is working fine. Also, I am using default NAT network on with virbr0 bridge device and virbr0-nic. I would like to get better understanding on virbr0-nic works in this virtual network configuration. I understand that traffic from virbr0

Error with active Libvirt Bridge (virbr0)
Just want to report an error in samba configuration / setup. I installed Samba 4 GA on a fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04. The server is a testbed and has the virtualization package installed also. I have two network interfaces exept lo: eth0 and virbr0. In the provisioning step samba correctly finds my eth0 network interface: Looking up IPv4 addresses More than one IPv4 address found.

KVM bridge wonkiness in Fedora19
Greetings, I'm attempting to get several virtual machines setup on a Fedora19 host system, with the traditional bridge network devices (br0, br1, etc). I've done this many times before with older versions of Fedora (16, 14, etc), and it just works. However, for reasons that I cannot figure out, the bridge doesn't seem to be working in Fedora19. While I can successfully connect to

Not sure if my bridge is the problem or my firewall
I''m running Xen and created a virtual os called Domain-1. So now I have two systems, Domain-0(dom0) and Domain-1(dom1), both running fedora 8. I only have 1 ethernet device eth0. However, for some reason, my internet doesn''t work in Domain-1. My output for route -n on Domain-0 is: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref

ifconfig showing same mac for 2 nics in same bond
Hi all, I just noticed that my two nics that are bonded via mode 0 are showing the same mac addy in ifconfig. Is this normal? In syslog I keep getting; kernel: pbond0: received packet with own address as source address Some guidance is appreciated before I dive in and troubleshoot. If I don't list the mac addy in my ifcfg-th# files, only one of the 2 nic comes up during boot.

libguestfs error: bridge 'virbr0' not found
Hey, I am getting this error after using virt-v2v-copy-to-local and trying to run: $ virt-v2v -i libvirtxml rhel7.xml -o local -os /var/tmp -of raw I try to set: export LIBGUESTFS_BACKEND_SETTINGS=virbr0=ovirtmgmt with no success and the file /etc/qemu/bridge.conf contains: allow virbr0 it only worked after creating the bridge, is there other way to import without creating the bridge? Thank
