usb drives & Orico ORICO 9548U3-BK
Everyone,
Is there a way to manually assign usb drives to a specified device
label. Is there a way to force two usb drives to be labeled as
/dev/sdc and /dev/sdd?
I decided to build an archive server for the purpose of backing up
other fedora/centos desktops at the office. I built a machine and have
installed Centos 7.3 on it with all updates current. I also purchased
a 3.0 usb sata drive

Centos7: Mount problem (Unit mnt-bk\x2dbenvet\x2d01.mount is bound to inactive unit dev-disk-by\x2dlabel-bk\x2dbenvet\x2d01.device. Stopping, too.
Please, someone can help me to resolve this systemd issue?
It's possible disable the "piece of software" of systemd that unmount
my backup disk a second after I mount it?
Many thanks

On a server Centos 7.2 ?I insert my 1Tb usb disk and run
sudo mount LABEL=bk-benvet-01 /mnt/bk-benvet-01
the command seem to work but nothing is mounted

xen-utils-4.1, pygrub, xvda1, "Boot loader didn't return any data!"
Hello,
xen-utils-4.1's pygrub is unable to boot VMs from a partitionless
blockdev that has grub installed in first sector. I'm not sure it
deserves a bug report, although it is kind of a regression from 4.0.
Long story short: zeroing first sector of domU's boot blockdev fixes it.
Maybe some of this report would be useful in the wiki, if someone else
has the same (odd) setup.

[PATCH] daemon: mkfs: Use -I option to force mkfs.fat to write a filesystem over a whole device (RHBZ#1039995).
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones@redhat.com>
If you use virt-make-fs to create a partitionless FAT-formatted disk
image then currently you will get an error:
$ virt-make-fs --type=fat . /tmp/test.img
'mkfs' (create filesystem) operation failed.
Instead of 'fat', try 'vfat' (long filenames) or 'msdos' (short filenames).

xeno-1.2.bk compilation question?
The system is Mandrake-9.1 Linux wih gcc-3.2.2.
I am trying to compile xenolinux-2.4.24 (with vanilla sources from
ftp.kernel.org for linux-2.4.24). The steps of
mkbuildtree
ARCH=xeno make menuconfig
ARCH=xeno make dep
produce no errors, but
ARCH=xeno make bzImage
results in following error messages.
Any pointers will be appreciated.

To avoid annoying warning from gcc I had to check for compatibility with
-falign-* like we do in arch/i386/Makefile.

[PATCH] Xen bk snapshot: netfront.c should use module_init()
__initcall is for things which are always built into the kernel.
Kconfig says netfront is tristate (although without a module_exit, the
module won''t be unloadable).
Trivial fix,
Rusty.

hi,
i''ve submitted a small patch to xen-unstable that makes the
''/dev/xx'' -> devicenumber lookup stuff work on my machine..

this is my first bitkeeper checkin ever, so please verify i did this
correctly.

C8 install problems
Hi all,
I am trying to install C8 from a DVD I made onto a 1Tb disc partitioned into 2 ext4 partitions.
The first partition contains C7 which I installed via a DVD.
Trying to install C8 yields an error indicating the file /dev/root is missing.
I've checked the SHA256 sum for the ISO for CentOS 8.1 1911 and it checks out fine.
I've burned a couple of different DVDs and get the same
