Hi, I installed audacity and after installation I get an error message. Whole sequence below. What to do ? I'm using Centos 4.3 updated to current level and this installation was done under root (su). --- "log" starting --- ># yum install audacity Setting up Install Process Setting up repositories Reading repository metadata in from local files Parsing package install

This may be common knowledge to some, but it was new to me. Libraries that use C++11 and are compiled with GCC 4.8.x that CentOS 7.x has are NOT binary compatible with GCC 5.x or newer. It seems to only effect C++11. What you have to do - create /opt/gcc55 (or whatever) Rebuild any libraries that use C++11 that you need in something compiled with GCC 5+ and install them within that prefix.

What's a good, gui-based sound editor as an alternative to audacity (since that is not working right now due to conflicts in the gtk libraries in rpmforge)? Or is there another place whence one may retrieve audacity? I tried sourceforge, but the links there resolve to a broken download link or they are for 64-bit rpms. Thanks. mhr

I suggest to collaborate with audacity.sourceforge.net in order to have a integration in Audacity itself to allow to save files in speex format. Can anyone provide the settings in Audacity to create a proper wav file without having to do additional conversion in the cli? I am using Audacity to record some voice prompts. The .wav files I'm producing are of stellar quality. However, once I turn them into .gsm, they sound buzzy and muffled. Hi, ? I'm having trouble with Audacity and Vorbis. Having proccessed a number of raw WAV files, I export to a mono Vorbis file, quality 5. I open it first with VLC, then Windows Media Player, and both play the file aprx 1.5 seconds late, therefore skipping the first 1.5 seconds. Any idea why it's doing this, and how I can remedy it? ?
