wow, $9100 for the 38U rack. thats pricey... and that's before PDUs,
UPS, and all that other important rack mount stuff.

thats really hard to do because the noise source is diffused, and

Dual ethernet server on the same LAN
Hello,
I have Fedora Core 3 linux and Samba 3.0.14a on a server that has 2
ethernet interfaces connected to the same LAN. The purpose to have such
a server with 2 network cards is to serve 2 network shares with high
traffic. I want the first share to be accessed trough the first network
card (named drone.domain.com) and the second share trough the second
card (named probe.domain.com). My DNS

REPOST: Changing from Mixed mode to pure Active Directory
I need to move a Samba 2.2.1 server form a Windows 2000 Domain network that
is currently running in Mixed mode with a domain name if "ABC" to a pure
Windows 2000 Active Directory network with a domain of "ABC.net". Do I need
to do anything other than change the domain controller name listed in the
password server property in the smb.conf?
Thanks!

It's probably too late for you, but the best solution is to buy

Inexpensive Layer 3 Switch?
Any recommendations on an economical layer 3 switch? Preferably something that you have hands on experience with connecting to IP phones with attached PCs? Specifically I need the ability to set the VLAN in the phone to tag voice packets and to set a native VLAN on a per port basis on the switch to put the untagged packets from the attached PC into a separate VLAN.
POE is not a requirement

OT: IBM and Dell rack
Hi all, sorry for the OT.
Is IBM and Dell 42U rack compatible in dimension, rails, etc?
Can we put IBM servers into Dell rack?
Google says it depends. Much appreciated if you can share your experience.

[compiler-rt] '-fprofile-generate' and embedded systems
Yep, done that already, but it is not at all a good fit when the device is inside a drone flying around ;-) What we do have, is a fake file-system that keeps everything in memory, and after the profiling is completed we offload it for analysis. I guess I was hoping that there would be a more robust system agnostic implementation. Use of ‘mmap’ is similarly constraining.

Issues with aacraid
Hi there,
I'm currently trying to install a server with
Centos 4.3 x86_64. I have issues installing drivers from a Driver disk,
I got a driver(2810SA) from the Adaptec site,
I started it up with "linux dd"
It reads the disk fine ....
I can see the aacraid module in the list but as soon as I choose it.
Then I get a screen saying "Do you wish to load more Driver Disks?"

diagnosing noise
Though quiet at the moment,
my desktop sometimes sometimes makes a noise that I attribute
to either a disk or a fan on its last legs.
I'm looking for suggestions for distinguishing.
For the disk, I expect I should use either hdparm of fsck.
Even after reading the man page, I'm not sure how I would use hdparm.
If I use fsck, what should I take as evidence of a bad drive?
A good drive?

Cisco 7960 Locking Up
Ok... I asked a question a few months back about a 7960 that a user
claims to be "shocking" her in her ear from time to time. A few others
indicated they had similiar issues and alot of them seemed to stem from
power over ethernet. Here's what we've done... We replaced the phone,
ran two new cat5 cables to a different switch, put in a power brick and
disabled power over

rack configurator?
Hey folks,
Does anyone know of a rack configurator that runs on CentOS? It does
not have to even be very fancy - immediately I'm just looking for an
easy way to keep track of what is in my racks, and being able to have
a visual of it. Maybe juggle stuff around. Bonus if it does power
calculations based on model numbers and so on - or data I punch in for
each model. But really right

centos server network speed check???
we have several servers on same rack and servers are all inside firewall. Centos version from 4.X to 5.X. sometime the connection are very slow (compare to servers on other racks also inside firewall).
we discuss with network engineer he ask us use "ping" and traceroute" to check. Both tools response time are good but if we connect through application like Web browser, database,

All non US 48 area codes?
Is there a list somewhere or a way to find the following:
1- All non US 48 area codes which can be dialed as 1+10
2- All strange area codes which are used for premium services such as
900-XXX-XXXX
3- Anything else that should be restricted if one was to restrict all
calls to US 48 only
I have found many list but it's tough looking at the entire list of
area codes and pulling out each of them
