CentOS 4 won't boot on test machine
I must have really shot myself in the foot on this one. I reinstalled CentOS 4.4 (have to, for now) on my test machine, exactly the way it was before (same options anyway), but when it comes up, I get: Booting 'CentOS-4 x86_64 (2.6.9-42.ELsmp)' root(hd1,0) Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83 kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-42.ELsmp ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet Error 15: File not

Partition/filesystem expansion difficulties
CentOS 4.6 Hi All: I am now officially stumped. I have tried everything that can think of and I have googled until I am blue in the face and tried just about everything that I could find that looked the least bit like it might apply and still no (or at least partial) joy. I am going to cram as much information into this email as I can and hope that someone out there can either tell me what I am

thanks
I just wants to thank the developers (s) of syslinux , and eventually the construction of your well explained HOWTO I am rather a newbie in informatics , but after several months (!) of efforts, training at learning and experimenting with the terminal & command line writing, I finally got succeful at creating a partedmagic live USB. the last step was rather creepy: I thought I had at last

Problems using the 'HPloglik' function in the SDE package
Hello all, I am trying to produce the closed-form Ait-Sahalia approximation to the log-likelihood function of a diffusion process but the function arguments I am passing to the function result in NaN being returned. I've checked the 'Transform','S' and 'M' functions and the problem doesn't seem to be with these. Does anyone have any ideas why this isn't working?

ext2fs_read_bb_inode: Invalid argument && Can't read an block bitmap
Hello, sorry if the question was asked a couple of times before but I couldn't find any useful hinds to this problem using google and the listman search-engine of the archive of this list. Somehow the ext3 filesystem on one of my machines died an after a reboot grub wouldn't come up again. What I did so far: fsck -y /dev/hda4 fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004) e2fsck 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)

Centos-6.8 fsck and lvms
I have a CentOS-6.8 system which has a suspected HHD failure. I have booted it into rescue mode from a CentOS-6.5 minimal install CD in order to run fsck -c on it. The system hosts several vms. I have activated the lvs associated with these vm using pvscan -s ; vgscan ; vgchange -ay. An lvscan shows the lvs as ACTIVE. None are mounted. When I try to run fsck on any of them I see the

Avago (LSI) SAS-3 controller, poor performance on CentOS 7
I have a handful of new systems where I've seen unexpectedly low disk performance on an Avago SAS controller, when using CentOS 7. It looked like a regression, so I installed CentOS 6 on one of them and reloaded CentOS 7 on the other. Immediately after install, a difference is apparent in the RAID rebuild speed. The CentOS 6 system is initializing its software RAID5 array at somewhere

repeated crashes
Hello, I've got a problem that is not solved after an e2fsck. What happens is that the kernel (vanilla 2.6.12) does this: journal_bmap: journal block not found at offset 1036 on hda6 Aborting journal on device hda6. ext3_abort called. The filesystem is mounted with errors=panic, so the system reboots. At boot-up an e2fsck is run on /dev/hda6. Sometimes it finds errors, sometimes not.

Add CONFIGISOLINUX, CONFIGSYSLINUX, CONFIGEXTLINUX and CONFIGPXELINUX
I would like to see that it is possible to specify which config file should be loaded. I would like to have an extension of the CONFIG command. Normally CONFIG loads the file that is specified after it. It should be nice if syslinux/isolinux/pxelinux/extlinux can choose which config file to load, based on the bootloader from which the current config is runned. If I will explain it with an

[Newbie] Reclaiming /boot space
When trying to do a yum update, I am told I need more space in /boot. When I check the contents of /boot (ls -l /boot), there are no files. If I do a df -h, there is no available space yet it shows that it has a lot of used space. The fstab shows the following: # This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 /
