I re-installed with GNOME Desktop and also configured two VMs in it, all
was working fine and i left the system locked overnight. When i tried to
unlock the next day morning, screen only shows up black. Again, i cannot
see the GUI. I can login to the system though.
Any help would be appreciated here.
Thanks,

What are you using to lock the screen? Some of the screensavers can be bad news on certain video cards (as I've learned the hard way) and can cause just exactly that to happen. In that case, the screensaver has locked up your video card.
If this is the case, try a different screensaver. I

OpenSSH Hangs After Successful Authentication
Greetings...
** Short Description / Abstract **
Using my _internal_ WiFi card, OpenSSH succeeds to local (internal) LAN
hosts, but hangs after authentication to external LAN hosts; however
PuTTY works for all hosts.
Using an _external_ WiFi card, OpenSSH does succeed to all LAN hosts (as
did PuTTY, still, as well).

Black screen after boot on CentOS 7.2
Hi, i just installed CentOS 7.2 on my little "server" but i get a black
screen during boot. It is a Asrock Am1h-itx mainboard with an AMD 5350
CPU (onboard graphic).
I created a raid 6 but i dont think thats the problem, as the boot
process goes pretty far. I would even say its going until X should
start, but it is a server install, so i guess there is no X.
Can someone tell me what

hi community,
after installing (debian 6) squeeze, roughly following the

Black water pipe to tank leak
I have a small leak coming from my black water connection at the tank. I will try to describe what I have. The leak is where the 3 pipe comes out of the tank. It appears to have plumbers putty and then it is clamped. The biggest problem is space to repair it. The shut off valve is only about 3 inches from the tank and after the valve it makes a 180 degree turn. It then has a long straight run to

vesamenu causing screen lock-up
Dear all,
I have recently been playing with vesamenu.c32. It seems to work quite
well on my hardware test machines. However, it's not really working as
expected on VMWare-based test machines.
(It's really nice to have a slick background image!)
As soon as i choose an option and boot a linux kernel, the menu does
not go away.
Instead i'm left with an unresponsive menu stuck om the

I just had the misfortune to press Shift-{print screen} accidentally

Further investigation shows the runaway creation of gnome-screenshot

System is CentOS 5.2 fully updated on an Intel i686.

Hi,
for some reasong, I can''t get xen hypervisor 3.4,3.3 or 3.2 (debian or
compiled) to boot on ibm series x3500. Only 3.0.3 from debian etch boots and
works. I''ve tried it on another server and the problem is the same.
the last thing that works it the grub menu. when I select the xen hypervisor
option, grub prints that it boots the selected menu, and the screen becomes

When i change the line cdrom= to some other CD (grml Live CD,
Windows CD, other ones) it runs fine. But any Ubuntu CD (kubuntu
alternative, ubuntu server, ubuntu desktop) i get the mentioned
error.
I tried using sdl (no window opens) and with

issue with openssh-server running in a libvirt based centos virtual machine
Hi,
I have a very strange ssh issue, and I do not know how to solve it.
I have a centos VM (managed by libvirt) running the latest centos 7
and latest openssh server package (debug1: sshd version OpenSSH_7.4,
OpenSSL 1.0.2k-fips 26 Jan 2017).
When I ssh remotely to this centos VM (using latest putty 0.70 and
other ssh clients as well), I do not get a login prompt whatsoever. I

Re: virtio channel socket bind error
I am assuming source mode is for the host. Bind means server and connect would mean client.
The other part is still pending.
On host, when I run cat it gives no such device or address
Or a python program to bind the socket (in my case /tmp/appl_port) it gives
'unable to connect to virtio-serial port. Error: %s', error(111, 'Connection refused'))
Am I missing something?
