Curious subsetting behavior
I have a simple vector, called tmp that I want to subset based on another vector called vec. Everything works as expected except for below where the subsetting returns something other than the original data. Any ideas? > vec <- c(1,2,3,4,5,59,60,27,32,21) > tmp [1] 1.0 1.1 2.0 2.1 2.2 3.0 3.1 4.0 5.0 5.1 6.0 7.0 8.0 8.1 9.0 [16] 9.1 9.2 10.0 10.1 11.0 12.0 13.0 14.0

gamma distribution don't allow negative value in GLMs?
Dear friends, when i use glm() to fit my data, i use glm(formula = snail ~ vegtype + mhveg + humidity + elevation + soiltem, *family = Gamma(link = inverse),* data =a,)) It shows: error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : *gamma distribution don't allow negative value*. But i use result<-glm(formula = snail ~ vegtype + mhveg + humidity + elevation + soiltem, family = poisson, data =a) #this

Compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 -- Success! But need help with a few issues.
Dominique, cc: compiz, Dominique, you wanted the feedback, and List, I need your help. I have installed and fully configured (kicked the tires) on compiz 8.6 on openSuSE 11.0 and on balance it is great. There are a few weird things going on. Most notably, the number of options in ccsm that now uncheck themselves. In the past (compiz 0.5.6 - 0.8.2) there may have been one or two that would stick

Double Integral Minimization Problem
Hello all, I am trying to minimize a function which contains a double integral, using "nlminb" for the minimization and "adapt" for the integral. The integral is over two variables (thita and radiusb) and the 3 free parameters I want to derive from the minimization are counts0, index and radius_eff. I have used both tasks in the past successfully but this is the first time

Making Wine Firefox the default browser
OK, I see posts all over the place for the opposite problem -- people want wine apps to open their linux default browser. But I have the opposite problem. I use a piece of software (GradeQuick) that only runs on Windows (and Mac sometimes when it feels like it). But it runs by first opening the web page which called it (www.edline.net), and it will not run through Linux. So when I click,

cant play after updating to ubunto 11.10
I recently updated my Ubunto from 11.04 to 11.10 and I can no longer play windows games via wine. However I can still launch and use Steam, but I cant play any of the games there, Steam shows the "preparing to launch..." message but the game never launches. Also with World of Warcraft the game launcher opens up, I can see the news and all, but when I push the play button the launcher

Gnome switcher and gnome windows list
Hello, am I the only one experiencing some bugs with the latest git checkout in the gnome switcher and gnome window list ? When I click on one of the workspaces on gnome's switcher the cube doesn't rotate, but the windows disappear. I don't know how to describe it well, but it seems like the 4 faces of the cube in compiz and my 4 workspaces on gnome-switcher are now totally unrelated

Latest switcher patches, bugfix.
I've attatched a patch to fix a bug in the latest switcher patches that got put into CVS. Basically, window order with minimized windows is undefined, and this fixes it. Also, I notice that in some cases switcher fails to get an icon for a window. Perhaps the icon code is forcing a search for a specific size, rather than 'best-fit'? Also, the patch allows usage of alt+shift+tab (in

R in Ubunto
Hello , I do not know anything abount Ubunto, but I found a Portable Ubunto for Windows and since so many people prefer Linux to Windows I decided to give it a try. It runs very nicely, so I tried to load R, following Instructions in CRAN I added the line deb http://probability.ca/cran/bin/linux/ubuntu hardy/ to /etc/apt/sources.list and then from a console I did sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get

0.7.6 Ring Switcher not initiated by <super> Tab
List, In checking ring switcher and shift switcher, it seems that the key bindings are off. For shift switcher, it still initiates with <Shift><Super>S, but no longer terminates with enter on the numeric keypad, only the normal enter key terminates it. For ring switcher, it is NOT initiated with <Super>Tab despite the key binding showing that it is. Instead,

Commenting switcher.c, switching between application windows.
Hello all. I'd like to implement the ability to switch between just the windows of the currently selected application (similar to the way OS:X does it) to switcher.c. As a part of actually understanding what's going on in there, I'll go through and try to write doxygen comments the switcher.c functions. Is there anyone else working on either the commenting or the switching parts, to
