pidgin-sipe on Centos-6/64
Hi!
Wondering if anyone here has been able to get the (3-rd party) SIPE
plugin (pidgin-sipe) working on Centos-6 with the C6 version of pidgin?
I've just started looking at it and after a little messing around have
no joy. Before I waste more time on it I thought I'd ask.
what I've done so far:
--download the latest binary from the Suse build service, allegedly one built
for EL-5.

Hi gang!
I'm hoping for some advice here,...
I've been having this problem for a while and have come to the point where
I need someone else's guidance/suggestions/help...
I'm running a Cenotos-4 system. It was originally a TAO Linux-1 system,

libesmtp binary RPM ???
Anyone know where I can find a libesmtp binary RPM for EL5/Centos 5?
(and maybe a RPM for Balsa, too?) I have an old balsa rpm, but there
are newer versions available as source.
Thanks!

another bizarre thing...
Hi all!
I'm stuck on something really bizarre that is happening to a product
I "own" at work. It's a C program, built on CentOS, runs on CentOs or
RHEL, has been in circulation since the early 00's, is in use at
hundreds of sites.
recently, at multiple customer sites it has started just going away.
no core file (yes, ulimit is configured), nothing in any of its

playing DVDs on C7
Hi all!
I'm trying to finish setting up my newly upgraded C7 system.
It's on the same hardware I ran C6 on for several years. on C6 I had no
trouble playing DVDs (after installing tons of packages and libdvdcss).
Well, on C7, I've got totem (videos) and all its plugins I can find
via yum, VLC (from nux) all the gstreamer and gstreamer1 packages I
can find, everything with

nameserver issue
Hi all!
This question is, at best, somewhat peripheral to Centos, but I'm
hoping to be forgiven, and that someone here can give me a clue.
I've just brought up a nameserver on my household LAN, bind9 on a
Raspberry Pi.
The connection with Centos is this: my main desktop is C7, and its
hardwired network is also manual, not dhcp. I've edited the ipv4 config
(in NM) and changed the DNS

installing C7 on a laptop with Win7, dual boot
Hi all!
I've just installed C7 on my netbook that already contained Win7 (and
also Fedora 19, which the C7 is intended to replace). The Fedora installer
had found the windows installation and it appeared in the grub menu,
and was bootable and worked fine.
The C7 installer did not put the windows installation into the grub
menu.
with some googling I found a page at

KMIDI problem
Hi gang!
Running 5.1 with Gnome as the default desktop, but have installed KDE
too so I can run kde apps.
Kmidi is the default midi player, so if I click on a midi file in firefox
it brings up KMIDI.
KMIDI goes merrily along playing the file, but I get NO SOUND.
My motherboard has built in audio but it's disabled and I"m using an
old Audiopci 128 card which seems to work fine for

Xen on OpenSSI?
Any thoughts on running Xen on OpenSSI? We have an app we''d like to
cluster but is expressly and completely incompatible with the OSes that
OpenSSI are supported on, but if we can run several Xen domains on a
cluster we can run those OSes and, naturally, that app.
Thoughts?

Centos5, Compiz, and Nvidia
Hi!
Just did a TEST install of centos5 on an old PIII box.
one of the things I wanted to see was the fancy desktop eye-candy of
compiz and/or beryl.
This box has a nvidia 6600 series card, and I've isntalled the Nvidia
drivers (download from nvidia and run their installer).
I used the software updater to install compiz (didn't show up on original
install, perhaps I didn't hold my

more questions on setting up autofs on C7
Hi!
Thanks to some of you I got autofs set up on my C7 netbook for
mounting local cifs filesytems.
Now I want to do something on my C7 desktop machine, that seems to
me to be a little different, and I"m not sure how to do it.
I have an external RAID1 box that attaches via USB. It is/will be
nearly always /dev/sdc, but being USB I can't guarantee that it
will always be found there.

Using GIMP on Centos-7, problem
Wondering if anyone here has ever tried installing this
https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer
as a gimp plugin in Centos-7, with gimp 2.8.16??
I find the installation instructions (for the binary tarball) are
minimal and whatever I do, it doesn't seem to appear in the gimp
menus, as it should.
I've used an older version (0.14) from years ago in older versions
of gimp, but how does
