CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and
although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot
get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous
(spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected)
monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024,
nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server

CentOS 7, ATI video, ex-X
A user running gnome came in this morning, clicked on the application
menu... and it was much shorter than he expected. He could get to firefox,
and googled about refreshing that... and found something that told him to
reboot.
And that's it: I cannot get X up, at all. I just get the "oh, no,
something failed, please log out and try again".

Install XGL under CentOS 5 with ATI X600 and dual-head configuration
Hi again.
I've got a laptop with an ATI X600 inside, perfectly working xorg with
dual head configuration, 2 desktops (without xinerama).
I've got 2 xorg.conf files, one for propietary ATI (fglrx) driver, and
other to use the open source driver. The difference is very notorious.
The problem I have is that I read (Saint Google) that to work with
compiz/beryl and dual-head configuration, I

Dragon Age on an ATI/AMD Video card
Has anyone successful played Dragon Age using an ATI/AMD graphics card? I have it running great on my Nvidia card with winetricks but not on my ATI HD 4870. All I get is a black screen with none of the models showing up ingame. Are ATI/AMD drivers still not playing nice with WINE?

ATI Proprietary Drivers LAG
I've installed CentOS 5.5, fixed my problems with my network card driver,
and and I've followed this:
http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/HardwareList/AtiDriver ,
downladed latest ati driver, restarted, screen resolution is fixed, but
everything lags.

ATI video driver problems
User got upgraded to 6.4. Graphical mode video fails.
It's an AMD (nee ATI) RV620 (FirePro 2260).
So I finished upgrading everything, including kmod-fglrx. Based on the
xorg.conf's on there, it's been using the fglrx. Now, in Xorg.0.log, it
tells me "no supported AMD display adapters were found". I've been
on-and-off googling for hours, and can't figure out if the

Carrara 6 on wine in Ubuntu Hardy...
I am new and trying to get Daz Carrara 6 Pro going on Ubuntu Hardy.
I am on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 Dell Inspiron 530 using an ATI X1650 pro card.
I am using the Ubuntu Add/Remove ATI drivers and Wines.
Carrara 6 pro 6.1. and I just updated to 6.1.1.
I did not load the C++ and I have turned off windows management in WINE.
If I change the interactive rendering settings and click OK, Carrara

Bad performance in games
Hi!
I have managed to get games like Team Fortress 2 and Mirror's Edge to finally run. But only with really bad performance.
If I run glxinfo | grep direct in the terminal, I get:
Code:
direct rendering: No (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT set)
However, if I run sudo glxinfo | grep direct, it outputs this:
Code:
direct rendering: Yes
I'm not sure if that is relevant, but it seems a bit odd.

CentOS 7, ATI video, ex-X, still fighting
Still trying to get it running. Updated CentOS 7, ATI video card, trying
to use the radeon driver, and, using the previous kernel, X appears to
come up, but gdm fails; with the 514 kernel, X fails to start.
And here's a twist: I just rebooted, with radeon.modeset=1 on the kernel
line... and for no reason I know of, I get *six* logs, Xorg.[0-5].log.
Does this suggest anything to anyone? I

4 monitors with one graphics card and standard driver
I've just test an ATI FirePro 2460 graphics card on CentOS 6.4. It
connects 4 monitors.
It worked with the standard radeon driver. I was able to arrange the
monitors into my
preferred configuration (as a square array, 1 upper left, 2 lower left, 3
lower right, 4
upper right) simply by clicking System -> Preferences -> Display, and then
moving the
four monitor images. This creates the

Strange behavior in X, esp. VMWare Windows
Last Thursday, for some reason (possibly a power failure), my work
desktop had a different video configuration than when I left Wednesday
evening. I have two 17" flat panels configured as a two-head wide
(side-by-side) single display. When I arrived on Thu, I had two
individual desktops instead, the resolution was down to 800x600, and
so on. The monitor type had been reset to generic

Help with multi-monitor Xorg stuff
I have an unusual use case. I wonder if anyone can help. We use a PC
with 8 HDMI outputs for powering a video wall in an operations centre.
We use two Matrox video cards, each with 4 outputs. "lspci" reports
these cards as" [AMD/ATI] Cape Verde PRO [FirePro W600]".
On an older version of CentOS 7, I used the proprietary AMD/ATI
driver. This had a utility (I roorget the name)

Ati Low Perfomance
I have such problem: When i start Warcraft 3 (or WOW) in opengl mode (or DirectX, no matter) i got theese lines in console:

Game works fine but low perfomance. I really can't find solution in the internet.

How well do AMD Radeon cards run on Wine now? From past experience, I wasn't able to get as many games to run with an ATI Radeon compared to Nvidia.

Video troubles after 7.5 upgrade using CR repo
Hi,
Our desktop clients are running CentOS 7 with the Xfce desktop from
EPEL. The CR repository is enabled. A few days ago I launched an update,
which brought in close to 1 GB of packages.
I had some weird problems on two clients. One is an old Dell Optiplex
330 with a legacy video card.

Additional Notes on: AtiDriver
Dear Ralph.
I guess it was you who wrote the very helpful ATI driver tutorial
page. I just wanted to add some additional notes:
Package generation requires rpm-build to be installed. You may use:
yum install rpm-build on a clean CentOS box to do so.
Maybe you could also add a note for CentOS 5. On my 5.2 machine the
newly generated packages are found in:
/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/

Regarding : ATI video driver problems
I gather from the discussion on the reference thread that I'll be having
quite a time with a MB having an Integrated ATI Radeon HD 3000 graphics
chip set and a video card using a Radeon HD 6570 chip set when I try to
run CentOS 6.4 on it.
I was going to ask if CrossFire works with CentOS, but it appears that
the integrated chip set isn't going to work at all.
Well, ignoring all that,

Blank screen while loading AMD/ATI graphics driver (fglrx) in Dom0 (Linux 3.0/3.2) with Xen 4.1/4.2
Hi,
I had posted the following issue a few days ago in Xen-users but I haven''t
received any answer yet. So I decided to re-post it here in hope for some
solution.
Here''s the original post:
Xen wiki states that using linux 3.0 and above as dom0 works with all
graphics cards. I could install the fglrx graphics driver on my desktop
machine with a discrete graphics card (Radeon
