Strange crash after NVidia driver installation from ELRepo
Hi, I just had the weirdest of system crashed. Here goes. I wanted to install a desktop step by step, as I usually do. First the base system, then the X Window System, then the WindowMaker window manager. Everything went OK, then I installed kmod-nvidia from ELRepo. Yum informed me that the driver conflicted with x11-glamor (something like that), so I removed the corresponding package.

Xen VGA Passthrough Questions
Dear David Techer, I have read through your article on Xen VGA passthrough on http://www.davidgis.fr. It appears that the following command on your blog doesn''t work. dmesg | grep 01:00.0 | grep BAR The above command shows nothing at all. Is there an alternative solution? Thank you very much. Yours sincerely, Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming)

CentOS 7, systemd, pNFS - hosed
I just updated a server that's running CentOS 7. I do have elrepo enabled, because this Rave computer has four early Tesla cards. It won't boot. Nor can I get it to boot with either of the other two kernels, and I'll be the one that worked was erased. *Once* it complained that it couldn't fsck the large filesystem (IIRC, it's XFS). The other four-five times, I get pNFS

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default. I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver. I have tried a number of things: 1) in my kickstart package section add the line: -xorg-x11-drv-nouveau This did not work - it was still installed. 2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file to blacklist the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

rgl.snapshot only captures a small portion what's visible in the RGL device window on CentOS 7
Tom, Bingo! I followed the instructions in the link below, which allowed me to install the nvidia driver, which fixed the original problem with rgl.snapshot. Thanks very much for all your help. I guess I'll file a bug in the CentOS Bug Tracker so that the nouveau driver might get fixed. I'll also post to R-help so someone with the same problem who only searches R-help and not this SIG

CentOS 7, not systemd questions
Question 1: has anyone used preupgrade (I used it with fc 17 -> 19, and it pretty much appeared to work, but that was on a couple of worksttions)? Opinions? Question 2: is grub still supported, or is there something that *FORCES* you to use grub2? mark "grub2 must DIE!"

Hyper-V v2v
Hi list, What is the best method to migrate Hyper-V 2012 VM to oVirt/RHEV ? I made a v2v livecd, but it never load consoles and never launch p2v service (works well with BIOS VM or hardware, but G2 HyperV VM needs EFI to boot). I must add some packages on my system to build an EL7 (kmod-hfsplus from elrepo) and some other to boot on EFI : #boot EFI grub2 grub2-efi grub2-efi-modules

installing C7 on a laptop with Win7, dual boot
Hi all! I've just installed C7 on my netbook that already contained Win7 (and also Fedora 19, which the C7 is intended to replace). The Fedora installer had found the windows installation and it appeared in the grub menu, and was bootable and worked fine. The C7 installer did not put the windows installation into the grub menu. with some googling I found a page at

always boot from Elrepo kernel
Hello All, I purchased some Dell Latitude 3570 laptops. They came with Ubuntu preinstalled. ( Which I swapped for Centos7) I have to use Elrepo kernel on these machines to get some of the fn function keys to work. So I installed Elrepo's kernel-ml and selected this kernel with: # grub2-set-default 0 ( after disabling secure boot) The problem I see is that after a next kernel update,
