Re: How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Thanks for the reply Laine. My problem is that dnsmasq is masking
dhcpd, xCAT uses dhcpd for PXE stuff. If dnsmasq answer DHCP requests
the PXE boot won' t work. I want to see the logs for ensuring the
dnsmasq is not masking dhcpd.

dhcpd (via systemd) @boottime which does not wait for the interface..
hi users
I have my dhcpd to serve nothing but virbr0 (libvirt), OS is Centos 7.2
Dhcpd would not start, complaining like this:
No subnet declaration for virbr0 (no IPv4 addresses).
** Ignoring requests on virbr0. If this is not what
you want, please write a subnet declaration
in your dhcpd.conf file for the network segment
to which interface virbr0 is attached. **

How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Hi everybody,
I'm using libvirt together with xCAT, on the same host, for testing
purposes. xCAT install and manages dhcpd. How libvirt interacts with
dhcpd? And if doens't how does the dhcp server of libvirt works, plus
where I can find information on how to troubleshot it?
Regards,

How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

Centos 6.2 / KVM troubles with network
Hi,
I have installed CentOS 6.2 x86_64 and KVM/Qemu and I have some troubles
with network.
The first case:
-----------------
The configuration is:
- CentOS 6.2 (hardware machine) has one Ethernet interface with static
IP address (eth0).
- Virtual machine has bridge network interface with eth0 interface on
CentOS 6.2. This bridge is created using wizard integrated with
virt-manager.
- Bridge

Centos 6 - Networking: Some Queries -- GURUS HELP PL
With NM_Controlled=No in the ifcfg file, NM applet shows "Not Managed", so
the ifcfg file is being read. What is the extent of interaction of
NetworkManager with ifcfg files is unknown....very little information on
the net. Seems Network Manager is still mostly unplublished compared to
other utilities. Any pointers to literature on this or macro architecture
of NM would be appreciated,

Xen and DHCP problem
Hey folks!
I want to add a CentOS 5.2 domU to an existing server (Fedora 8) which was setup by another company. The Dom0 does not provide any other services but a BIND-DHCP-server (they deleted dnsmasq and installed bind). Don''t ask my why they did that.
My new DomU is connected to eth0, which is a bridge. BIND also listens on eth0 to serve other machines.
I start the install of centos

Old bump of thread:
But... what you can't do with dnsmasq is send dynamic updates to bind to
keep your subnet name resolution straight or handle failover of that function.

Changing dnsmasq DNS settings for virtual machines
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi everyone,
maybe this is an old fart, but I cant get it to work.
I am running libvirt on a laptop, where a dnsmasq is already running
to delegate dns info for my local (not-public) network. My resolv.conf
(on the host) lists the system-dnsmasq as first server.
I had to set the listen-adress for the system-dnsmasq to 127.0.0.1 and

bind9 and isc-dhcp-Server for dynamic DNS-updates Error
Hi Rowland, I have not another dhcp server. dnsmasq is not configured.
I think the problem may be permissions. Which distribution linux do you use, Ubuntu?
I was tracing the script code dhcp-dyndns.sh, when the execution on the first line fails
Is correct this instructions in Debian:
chown root:root /etc/dhcp/dhcpduser.keytab
chmod 400 /etc/dhcp/dhcpduser.keytab

problem with bridged network for a kvm guest
I'm having trouble with the bridged network setup. I'm new to kvm, but I
got a window xp sp2 guest set up without trouble a few days ago. I followed
the instructions in the RH virtualization guide, and all was fine until I
had to reboot the host machine a few days later.
Then, I lost networking altogether on the host machine. I lost track of all
the things I tried, but finally got

Some questions
After years of delays and side trips, I really am going to dive in and
build my own Samba server. And I have a few questions.
All of my servers will be ARM. The main hardware will be Cubieboards (2
and truck). They will be running Centos-7 once the development is
finished. For now I am using Fedora 22 arm. My backup file server will
be a pogoplug (armv5) with Redsleeve 7.1.

KVM host question about host firewall
Hello All:
I'll ask this in the virt list later if this is not the appropriate forum...
Yesterday I was troubleshooting an issue with a KVM host. I was
unable to access the DNS service on a KVM virtual machine. After
verifying that the vm allowed through the DNS ports (53 on UDP/TCP)
and still being unable to access, I was able to connect immediately
after allowing those ports on the

configure network bridge listing bridged intefaces
Hi all,
Having a 4 NIC server, I want to bridge eth2 and eth3, with a bridge
named br0.
Searching the web I only found about creating a file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0, but did not find where to
explicitely list what ports will be bridged.
Where is it configured?
Thank you.
