Simple xen devel project: try out new compression algorithm (with tmem)
If any new Xen developers are interested in a simple project to learn Xen development (and also Xen Transcendent Memory), it would be interesting to test this in Xen. AFAIK, the only extensive use of compression is with Transcendent Memory ("tmem"), so learning about tmem would be a useful side-effect. Thanks, Dan

OS2 - Samba
Hi there, I tried to connect OS2 Warp 4 to Samba server. The network used to be NT 4.0 Domain, then migrated to Samba to become Domain Controller. I've followed below instruction, and still can't login to the domain. I can get an IP address and ping the Samba server, but can't login to domain and map any network share.

wine on Mandrake 7.2
Hi, I managed to run United Devices client on Redhat 6.1 with wine-20010326 (after applying a patch that was posted here), but on Mandrake I get errors (below). It brings up the application, but sometimes gets stuck and doesn't open a System Tray window, as it does on the RedHat. (So once you "minimize" the app it's gone for good). Any help appreciated Zeev $

jitterbuffer causes flaky IAX2 incoming connections?
I've been having problems with incoming IAX2 calls - some work, but a large fraction are answered with "dead air" or disconnects from my IAX provider. Disabling the jitterbuffer seems to eliminate the problem (so far)! Has anyone else seen this? I'm using 1.2.6, but I'm not sure what my provider is using. A snippet of the a failed incoming call IAX2 debug is attached

ups not recognized by usbhid-ups
I've posted this before being subscribed but was thwarted by moderation. I have a new UPS, actual manufacturer unknown. It comes with USB and serial connections, and a CD with windows software and some old unix software for serial support only. I'm using pretty much bleeding edge linux, and I want to avoid rs-232 if possible. Am I hopelessly naive? This is what lsusb says: Bus 006

Help! messed up user rights with word and samba 3.0.x
Hello everybody! I need help with a curious problem referring to Word and Samba. I've installed a network with a Samba 3.0.2 PDC and fileserver and about 8 Windows Clients ranging from w2k prof (members of the domain) to XP home. The XP Home users have an account within the domain and so can "mount" the Samba share as a local drive on their computers. All of the users are members

R and Java
I am calling R from within Java. But I don't think that I can get any plots written to file from R - inside Java. This snippet of code(from a larger piece of code) compiles in Java, but doesn't do anything! functions.append("trial<-c(1,3,4,5)\n"); functions.append("dawpdf<-function(filename){\n");
