All data gone AWOL
Hi,
We have been using ext3 with numerous machines and they
take quite a bit of abuse without incident. This morning I
got a call to say that a power cut had rendered one box unbootable.
Investigations revealed that the /boot partition was in good order.
An fsck of / also showed things to be well - except that the partition
was completely empty - except for /lost+found.
It might appear that

Is lsdev AWOL?
I was looking at my newly installed CentOS 4.2 system with ls* commands
yesterday and lsdev was not on the system.
Did I miss installing a package? A Google search for CentOS 4.2 and
lsdev was unhelpful.

Whoah! My E400P system went AWOL
Hi,
I came back from a quiet weekend today and found my E400P box to have gone
astray. Asterisk is loaded from inittab, and started crashing and reloading
a couple of thousands of times, each time notifying my monitoring service :-P
I remember there would be issues on old cvs stuff since the crash at digium
so I made a clean checkout just now.
Here is what happens when I load manually:

It isn't that I am not a fan of 'winbind enum', it is that it only does
two things:
It enumerates users and groups (which isn't actually required)
It slows things down

Multiple HABTM to one table
I have a class Player, and a class Game.
Game has two HABTM relationships to the Player table through seperate

Software gone AWOL...
I am moving from a CentOS 6 VM to a CentOS 7 VM and two pieces of software I
use seem to be missing:
RT (from Best Practical Solutions) -- an RPM for rt 3.1.13 was in
EPel 6 and until recently, was also in EPel 7. It is not there now. Since
it is just Perl code, I wonder if I can just install the el6 rpm on a
CentOS 7 system.

Samba domain users AWOL from Samba file server.
Unfortunately, the the Ubuntu 18.04 samba-tool package doesn't have "user
show" as an option. The Windows ADUC tool shows user1 uidNumber =10001,
user2 uidNumber=10002, user3 uidNumber =10003, and user4 uidNumber=10004
Here are the getent command results on the file server/ domain member:

MySql 4.0.16 and Migrations
It appears that you cannot use migrations (out of the box) with mysql 4.0.16,
because when creating a table, the statement says "ENGINE=InnoDb", instead of
"TYPE=InnoDB".
Looking at the source code for the adapter, this appears to be hard coded. Is
there any supported way to make this work with older versions of MySQL?

vignette index going AWOL
I?m preparing a package (fastR) for submission to CRAN, but the vignette index keeps going AWOL, or at least R CMD check ?as-cran thinks so. I?ve tried several things and gave myself the weekend to think of other things, but I can?t figure it out. Perhaps someone on the list can lend a hand.
Here?s one example situation, where I build the index.html file myself and put it in inst/doc/index.html

Samba domain users AWOL from Samba file server.
Using samba-tool on my samba DC, I created several users. On my separate
samba file server, joined to the domain, all the users are listed as
belonging to Domain Users ( getent group "Domain Users"). However, several
domain users are missing from the passwd database on the file server (i.e.,
nothing returned when I run getent passwd user3). Why would that be?

plugin versioning
When I install a plugin, does Rails record the version installed anywhere?
Maybe I''m not doing it the "right" way, but I''ve excluded vendors from my
source repository. I''d like some ''record'' of what plugins are used that is
under source control.
