debuginfo versioning tools?
Are there any tools to help assemble libraries and debuginfo to examine core dumps that happened on another host where the versions don't match? Something like mock but build-version specific and with the debuginfo packages pulled in? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Centos6 iptables startup vs. restart?
What is different about the initial startup of iptables than 'service iptables restart' (and different from C5)? I want to use iptables port redirection to send port 80 to 8080 so a java web service doesn't have to start as root. On C5 it worked to give the iptables commmands, then 'iptables save', and from then on it would automatically work when iptables started after a

RHEL/Centos6 handling disks w/4k sectors?
Does anyone know if 4k sectors will be handled better by the kernel in Centos6? I'd like to copy backups to a 750Gb laptop type drive for offsite storage but the best write speed I can get is about 8MB/sec even with dd to the raw disk which shouldn't have an issue with partition alignment. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

new Centos server install yum dependancy error
Hello Voytek, the *-devel packages include header files that are only needed if you want to compile something, they are not needed for running a dovecot server. Likewise the *debuginfo packages, they contain information that is helpful for debugging dovecot. Your problem is here: Error: Package: 2:dovecot-lua-2.3.4.1-1.x86_64 (dovecot-2.3-latest) Requires: dovecot = 2:2.3.4.1-1

VLAN issue
Less, You are 100% right. Of course I brought up my eth0 - but, like you said, with no IP. Meanwhile, I brought up eth0.48 with 192.168.48.100. However, until I would bring up eth0 with an IP address (any in the network) I would have no connection. Why? That's what I fail to understand. Boris. what updates /etc/localtime?
I see in CentOS 7 that /etc/localtime is a symlink (which seems sensible...) but in earlier versions it is a copy of some file from under /usr/share/zoneinfo. rpm -q --scripts tzdata does not show any postinstall script, so in the non-symlink versions, how does the copied /etc/localtime file get updated with new zone data? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

how to stop yum when networkmanager has broken resolv.conf?
Oh, and if you don't have killall installed, you can use: ps -ef | grep yum to get the pid and then use: kill -TERM pid or easier even is: kill -TERM `pid of yum` Chris On Fri, Feb 20, 2015 at 4:13 PM, Chris Stone <axisml at gmail.com> wrote: > try CTRL-Z to put that running process in your shell to sleep, then: > > bg 1 > > to put the process in the background.

lua assist
Hello, For Lua inclusion in Syslinux an idea to ship with an com32/lua/assist directory and an com32/lua/patches directory. In the patches directory patches against a pristine lua tarball and the assist dir contains scripts for further tayloring. This is what I have in mind: | milleune at inertia:~ | $ git clone http://www.stappers.it/tracking/syslinux/.git syslinux-lua-stappers | milleune at
