p2v conversion questions
Hi,
I am in the process of converting a w2k8 physical server to C6.5 kvm. In reading
https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/V2V_Guide/sect-V2V_Guide-Configuration_Changes-Configuration_Changes_for_Windows_Virtual_Machines.html
It says that virtio-win rpm is required. I know that the virtio-win rpms are
not available for Centos 6.5 but the drivers are

Centos 6 - Networking: Some Queries -- GURUS HELP PL
With NM_Controlled=No in the ifcfg file, NM applet shows "Not Managed", so
the ifcfg file is being read. What is the extent of interaction of
NetworkManager with ifcfg files is unknown....very little information on
the net. Seems Network Manager is still mostly unplublished compared to
other utilities. Any pointers to literature on this or macro architecture
of NM would be appreciated,

Re: Remove Virtual bridge and DNSMASQ
HI Michal
Thank you for explaining. I have this situation in a number of production
servers where we would always use static IPs for the host and VMs. In such
case we have no requirement for NATed network in the future. And we we
ever do, we can rely on a DHCP server within the LAN to provide IPs to the
VMs.
I'll look to remove both libivirt-daemon-driver-network,

Libvirt to return the ip address instead of the hostname during migration
Hi all,
We are working on nova live-migration using Ceph and trying to work around
the problem where vm migration fails if name resolution is not enabled in a
cluster. See the link,
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Virtualization_Host_Configuration_and_Guest_Installation_Guide/App_Migration_Address.html
We have managed to work around this by setting

Puppet agent on Windows
Hi,
What are the requirements to have puppet agents on windows servers? I have
2003 R2 and 2008 R2 servers, 32 and 64- bit, Puppetmaster 2.6.
What are the types that can be used on Windows? Is it production-ready?
Thanks,
Ugo

Datto ZFS OpenSolaris NAS Product
I just read about this new NAS product based on OpenSolaris and ZFS. There are lots of questions on this forum about good hardware for a home NAS box so the hardware/software this company is using might be interesting. From their site, they are using a "1.5 Ghz Low Voltage VIA C7 processor with 1 GB of RAM" to serve up a ZFS mirror.

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Intrinsic for declaring invariants
Hello again,
In discussing my proposed patches for supporting alignment assumptions (for supporting __builtin_assume_aligned; see http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20121126/157659.html), Chandler and I have started discussing an infrastructure for declaring invariants in the IR for use by the optimizer.
The basic idea is to introduce a new intrinsic:

Setting up a pci passthrough device
I have been investigating pci pass-through for virtualized
guests and the documentation I have found seems to me to
lack a certain consistency in its example. This may be
due to my not understanding what it is trying to inform
me.
What I wish to do is to configure a pci multi-port serial
i/o card for use by a single virtual host.
I start by running lspci -v on the host to identify the
serial

You might not have to wait that long - if you could help test these
patches, it would be appreciated:
