Problem with cdrom device on guest
I have a kvm guest running MS-WinV7 on a CentOS-6.5 host. The WinV7 guest was installed from a CD. It installed correctly and was updated and added to an MS Active Domain without difficulty. I was able to do work on it through the virt-manager console and I was able to shut the system down from the console without problem. I cannot get it to restart however. virsh start

smartd stalls the system on reboot
I have begun to notice that the smartd stalls my machine's boot process for as much as 2-3 minutes while it is coming up. I have the BIOS SMART function enabled, and I removed the bad SG400GB drive from the box yesterday, but I think this goes back farther than that. Why does it take so long? Is the BIOS SMART involved in this (and how)? Also, sendmail and sm-client take 30s-2m to come up

HELP! after power loss, system boots through mount of root fs then stalls
I run a RH 7.3 installation on a Compaq Proliant 6500 with dual pentium 266Mhz processors, approx. 630MB ram and a hardware SMART-2DH RAID controller and array. All file systems are ext3. The server has been in service for a couple of years now. From time to time we will lose power in our office or have another situtation that causes the server to lose power without a proper shutdown. We had

computer stalls instead of reboot
Hi, I''m still seeing a very strange issue here. First, let''s clarify that the issue has never occurred with the good old xen 3.x and the good old 2.6.18 kernel. So the issue is, that with xen 4.x (including 4.1.1) pretty much any kernel (including kernel from [1] and vanilla 3.0.0, didn''t test the 2.6.18), the machine freezes during a reboot. The machine won''t

mge-shut driver fails almost after every reboot
Hello Arno, FreeNAS doesn't come with a compiler and I had to compile with the patch on FreebBSD-9.3 and then copy the produced mge-shut. Unfortunately it didn't work out. For every try I was getting "Connection Refused" and when I tried /usr/local/libexec/nut/mge-shut -D -a <ups_name> I was always getting 'No matching HID UPS found'. I returned back to the

mge-shut driver fails almost after every reboot
Hello Arno, Thanks for the quick reply. FreeNAS is FreeBSD-based. Yes, I could test a patch. As I have mentioned, this behavior is not seen at every single reboot but after most reboots. Also, some times, the connectivity can be lost without even rebooting. That is not very often can have happened a few times. Best regards, Panagiotis On 2/4/2015 5:44 ??, Arnaud Quette wrote: > Hello

libvirt hooks deadlocks and auto-restarting a stopped guest
All, Short version: I want to auto-restart a particular guest any time it shuts down. libvirt hooks can't call 'virsh start foo'. What is a good/simple way to do this? Long version: I have what is probably an unusual set of requirements. To summarize briefly: I have an OS image that runs 3rd party binaries that I can't modify. These binaries occasionally get they system
