Samba and AIX
I have Samba 1.9.18p4 running on AIX v4.1. It works fine using
security = user and alias lists.
I have installed Smaba 1.9.18p7 on AIX v4.2 and cannot get it to work
at all with any level of security. The server is on NT and 95 browse
lists but attempting to access any share receives "credentials already
in use" ; incorrect password ; or locks explorer completely.
Any suggestions?

/etc/lmhosts
Has anyone had any luck with lmhosts.
I'm trying to avoid using the -I 192.168.1.10 to identify a Win95 machine
when using smbmount
Is there an option I need to set in Samba to tell it to use /etc/lmhosts?

login reporting (utmp?) problem on Linux
I have recently compiled and installed openssh-2.1.1p1 on a linux box.
The login reporting does not seem to work properly.
When logging into the box via ssh (protocol 1) utmp shows the user logged
in and the tty properly, but the field for the login date/time and the
field for originating host contain all NULLs.
Is anyone else seeing this same behavior, or have I just done something

betabinomial model
Hi,
can anyone help me fit betabinomial model to the following dataset where
each iD is a cluster in itself , if i use package aod 's betabinom model it
gives an estimate of zero to phi(the correlation coeficient ) and if i fix
it to the anova type estimate obtained from icc( in package aod) then it
says system is exactly singular. And when i try to fit my loglikelihood by

problems with NVS310
I have a Nvidia NVS310 installed in my Linux computer for a few years.
It works well with the Nvidia driver, and not so well with the Linux
nouveau driver. The Nvidia NVS310 has never worked well with Linux. In
the beginning (many years ago) I decided to install Nvidia proprietary
drivers, but every kernel upgrade would require an additional effort to
have the driver working. That was enough

Start and stop the samba server
Is there a good way to stop and restart the samba server...
for example to have it re read the smb.conf, without rebooting the
actual pc?
if I should kill a process should I kill them all ??? if so is there an
efficent way to do this?
thanks in advance

Printer banner always 'nobody'
I've had this problem as long as I've been using samba: every time
anyone prints from a PC they get a banner page labeling them 'nobody.'
Now, I realize this has to do with the guest account being 'nobody,' and
the server is passing that name to the printer. It can get very
frustrating, though, when lots of folks use the same printer and all of
the jobs have the same name

can't enable selinux CentOS 6.5
Hey guys,
For some reason I can't seem to enable SELinux on this one host.
Here's my SELinux config file:
[root at beta-new:~] #cat /etc/sysconfig/selinux
# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
# enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
# permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.

[PATCH][VMX] Fix an error in guest rdmsr handling
This is an obvious typo.
With this patch, checked build of Windows server 2003 can be installed
and run on top of VMX domain.

Hello,
I have been using Xen on a Debian Lenny server for quite
some time. I decided to build a new Dom0 using identical hardware, but
newest version of Xen from repositories with Debian Squeeze.
I
attempting to create a new DomU on the new host which is similar to an
existing DomU running on the older Lenny host. The DomU is a three NIC

Page allocation failure
Dear list,
I am seeing an error across multiple machines during heavy I/O, either
disk or network. The VMs are on different Intel CPUs (Core 2 Quad, Core
i5, Xeon) with varying boards (Abit, Asus, Supermicro).
Machines that get this error are running either BackupPC, Zabbix (MySQL)
or SABNZBd. I can also reproduce the error on the Supermicros with a
looped wget of an ubuntu ISO as they are

find data (date) gaps in time series
Dear R users,
I have a time series of precipitation data. The time series comprises
~ 20 years and it is supposed to be constant (one value per day), but
due to some failure of the measuring device some days or periods are
missing. I would like to find these missing days or periods just to
get a first idea about the reliability of the measurements. The only
