Bell Canada Caller-ID
Has anyone gotten CID from Bell Canada to work properly with *?
We have our * box down at our datacentre in St Louis, and whenever we
call it from a Bell Canada Telephone line, all we see is '' for the CID.
I did some digging on google and the mailing lists and couldn't find
anything pertaining directly to Bell-Canada and * CID, but didn't find
much. I did however find :

Canadian call quality issue
hello,
we have been using a couple of US based
VoIP providers for outbound calls completed
within the US, without any issues.
We recently started making calls to Canada
and have received a few complaints about
the call quality.
Questions :
- Could this be because of the number of
intermediate IP hops between us / our
VoIP provider and the Canadian phone
companies ?

How to exit from Xen console?
How do you exit from a Xen domU console back to the dom0 if your
connection is from an SSH or Putty connection?
No amount of exits can get me out and I have to start close the PuTTY
session and start a new one when I have to get back to dom0

Question on echo's for Canadian Asterisk users ...
Has anyone has issues with echo using a Wildcard with a PRI from a
major Canadian Telco? (Bell, Telus, AllStream, Sprint, Group Telecom).
We are using a T1 from GT that is giving use annoying echos whenever a
SIP/IAX2 client calls a
local analog line. Calling cells phones is no issue since its digital.
Regardless, there should
be no issue with echo on a PRI at all.
NOC at GT is telling us

tm: custom reader for readPlain
Hello:
I have a series of newspaper articles from a Canadian newspaper database (Canadian Newsstand) that look just like below.
I've read through this vignette (http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/tm/vignettes/extensions.pdf) about creating a custom reader to extract meta-data, but I can't understand how to apply this in the context of a text document, rather than in the tabular format

Any interest in a Canadian Asterisk mailing list?
Just on the off chance that Canadian Asterisk users might be
interested in a place to discuss topics specific to the "great
white north" (sources, services, telcos, etc.), I created
the asterisk-canada mailing list:

or

Overimposing one map in ssplot onto another
Hello!
I have 2 maps - both created in ssplot and both identical in terms of
outline. Is there any way to superimpose Map1 (which has black borders
between Canadian provinces) onto Map2 (which is also a map of Canada)?
Thanks a lot for your hints!

Canadian Association of VoIP Providers
My apologies for the cross-posting.
If you are a business or individual providing Voice over IP services in
Canada then we encourage you to read this email carefully otherwise
please disregard.

As you are most likely aware, the CRTC has undertaken the roll of
regulating VoIP services in Canada and is currently conducting hearings
with the goal of putting in place regulatory requirements

Re: no drm render nodes available
If you could handle it that would be great. I can for now downgrade to my cached git 0.9.0 package to work around this. If you don't mind emailing back or somehow alerting me the bug has been fixed though, that would be helpful.

C cedilla problem
Hi,
I'm having a problem with Samba (which is strange because I don't usually
have any problems with Samba).
I have the following directories on a Windows NT 4.0 server, as I see them
from my SuSE Linux 6.3 box with Samba 2.0.7 (self-compiled). Both the
Linux and Windows box are the English versions, however we're using
Portuguese language filenames.

Unicode in client? (was c cedilla problem)
Hi,
A few days back I wrote a message to this list complaining about c cedilla
problems in filename with Samba as a client to WinNT.
I got no replies, but after a better look into the problem, I found out it
wasn't the ? "c cedilla" that was the problem, but the ? ("a" tilde) that
follows it in (too) many Portuguese words.
After hours of protocol traces with samba and

in latin1 (or iso-8859-1), numeric &#xxx; codes, HTML entities
and latex equivalents. A portion of the file is shown inline below, but
may not be rendered well in this email.
I'd like to read this into R to use as a character translation table,
but am stuck on two things:

subdirectories with different permissions
Several users keep asking for a similar setup, and I'm wondering if
there's a way to achieve it with a single samba share.
They'll ask for a single share drive the has multiple subdirectories
with each subdirectory having different permissions based on groups.
So say you have a share called COLOURS and inside that share are three
subdirectories, RED, GREEN and BLUE.
