Autodetecting backing file properties when using vol-create-as
Hi all,
experimenting with vol-create-as, I think it should autodetect some data
- filesize and backing file format, specifically. However, the current
implementation require us to specify both filesize and backing file
format.
Considering that qemu-img already autodetects these data, there are any
reason for the lack of autodetect by libvirt? Should I open a bugzilla
issue?

Per-protocol ssl_protocols settings
Sorry for the bump...
Anyone know if it is possible to have multiple protocols instances with
different ssl_protocols settings?

ZFS on Linux repository
Hi list,
we all know why ZFS is not included in RHEL/CentOS distributions: its
CDDL license is/seems not compatible with GPL license.
I'm not a layer, and I do not have any strong opinion on the matter.
However, as a sysadmin, I found ZFS to be extremely useful, especially
considering BTRFS sad state. I would *really* love to have ZFS on Linux
more intergrated with current CentOS.

KVM Questions
I have a system with two CentOS 7.1 guests. When I created the VMs I did
not have enough storage space in the default location
/var/lib/libvirt/images so I moved the default location to a directory
/home/vmimages. While this configuration is functional I regret creating
a new storage pool in /home. I would like to create a separate partition
to place the VM images removing them from their

Hi Pavel, this is bad news :(
So, in your case at least, Gluster was not stable? Something as simple
as an update would let it crash?

Questions about hardlinks, alternate storage and compression
Hi Javier,
thanks for your reply.
I already checked SIS and, while interesting, is not what I want, because:
1) it can be difficult to restore a single message/attachment from a backup
2) only the attachments, and not the entire messages, are deduped.
Message-based hardlinks really exists for a reason. The good news is
that I found _why_ they are not working: it depends from how dovecot and

Dovecot, pigeonhole and hardlinks
Hi list,
many moons ago I asked about preserving hardlink between identical
messages when pigeonhole (for sieve filtering) was used.
The reply was that, while hardlink worked well for non-filtered
messages, using pigeonhole broke the hardlink (ie: some message-specific
data was appended to the actual mail file). Here you can find the
original thread:

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Ciao Gionatan,
I run Gluster 3.10.x (Replica 3 arbiter or 2 + 1 arbiter) to provide
storage for oVirt 4.x and I have had no major issues so far.
I have done online upgrades a couple of times, power losses, maintenance,
etc with no issues. Overall, it is very resilient.
Important thing to keep in mind is your network, I run the Gluster nodes on
a redundant network using bonding mode 1 and I have

Ok, never run Gluster with anything less than a replica2 + arbiter ;)

Per-protocol ssl_protocols settings
Hi all,
I have a question regarding the "ssl_protocols" parameter.
I understand that editing the 10-ssl.conf file I can set the
ssl_protocols variable as required.
At the same time, I can edit a single protocol file (eg: 20-pop3.conf)
to set the ssl_protocols for a specific protocol/listener.
I wander if (and how) I can create a different listener for another POP3
instance, for

Windows guest skipping chkdsk if using Spice display
Hi all,
as per subject, when a Windows guest using a Spice display is rebooted
with a planned chkdsk, the consistency check is always skipped.
It seems that the Spice display issues some "phantom" keystrokes, which
are then intended by Windows as the "skip chkdsk at boot" signal.
I tried to use a Spice display with no additional features (ie: USB
redirection), but to no

Deleted symlinks when receiveing files with the same name
Hi list,
I would like to know if the following rsync's behavior can be
changed/modified.
I noticed that when rsync receive a file for which the local filesystem
already has a symlinks with the same path/name, it _first_ delete the
symlink, _then_ it start the transfer.
I think there are two problems with this approach:
- it completely ignores the content of the symlinked files, which can
