Re: Xen died - Fedora upgrade from 21 to 26
Jim,
Thanks for that, I had manually installed
libvirt-daemon-driver-xen, but also needed to install
libvirt-daemon-driver-libxl. I can now create VMs and convert config
formats.
However the daemon still fails to start on bootup. It starts fine when I
manually start it with "systemctl start libvirtd" but setting it to
autostart with "systemctl enable libvirtd" seems

Re: Xen died - Fedora upgrade from 21 to 26
My server was installed as a "minimal install" in text mode, so there
may be some difference between my setup and your laptop. Are you able to
email the output of "systemctl list-unit-files" to me so that I can see
what services are enabled?
I tried installing a couple of the other drivers mentioned in the log
file...
# dnf install libvirt-daemon-driver-lxc
# dnf install

Re: Xen died - Fedora upgrade from 21 to 26
Note that this does not help with the original problem but points out a
critical design flaw.
To me your it infrastructure design has no working disaster recovery plan.
You should always be able to access critical functionality and from there
be able to restore complete functionality step by step. In your case the
outermost functionality is the vm host. You should always be able to log
into that

Re: Xen died - Fedora upgrade from 21 to 26
Alvin,
Thanks for that. I disabled the xendomains service (I had to do it
twice, as it seemed to re-enable itself after the first reboot) and it
now starts libvirtd automatically on startup.
However, all is not well!
"xl list" and "virsh list" will just hang
"systemctl stop libvirtd" just hangs and after this "ps aux" lists the
process as defunct

Arndale: domU not booting
Dear all,
I followed the steps described in the wiki in order to get an Arnadle
board running Xen, but I''m having trouble in starting a domU. Let me
describe you the steps I followed. Sorry for such a long mail, but I
think that a verbose description is necessary so you can point me what
I''m doing wrong.
I couldn''t boot properly over the network. This is why I

How to use xl (in place of xm) with libvirt 1.0.2 and Xen 4.2.1 in Ubuntu 13.04?
QUESTION: What, if anything, can I do so that I can use xl (in place of
xm) with libvirt 1.0.2 and Xen 4.2.1 in Ubuntu 13.04?
BACKGROUND: I am testing a fully updated (as of March 27) installation of
Ubuntu 13.04 that includes the following packages:
libvirt - version 1.0.2-0ubuntu9
xen-hypervisor-4.2-amd64 - version 4.2.1-0ubuntu1
Upon setting TOOLSTACK=xm in /etc/default/xen (as well as

Re: [virt-tools-list] libvirt/virt-manager source integration with xen
Thanks Cole, unfortunately I'm a n00b in this area so your response just
raised many more questions for me :/
* what are the config file names for libxl, libvirt and virt-manager
* where are they located in the respective source trees
* are the build flags defined in those config files?
* libxl is part of xen 4.5.0 distro (xen/tools/libxl after untarring). But
no config file is in

libnl-dev
* ./configure = --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc

Unable to start xend
Hi,
I''m trying to install Xen on Ubuntu 11.04. I read somewhere (please
correct me if this is wrong) that Ubuntu hasn''t had dom0 support since 8.04
LTS, and the recommended action was to grab a dom0-enabled kernel from
Debian, so I did. I''m running 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 and built Xen 4.1.1 from
source. After installation and some troubleshooting, I tried to start

I was sort of hoping that is was something simple like setting the
"do_the_right_thing" flag.
The libvirtd kicks out

reboot problem with libxl
If I reboot a single vm through libvirt/libxl the system reboots normally.
If I have several vm's reboot at the same time then The systems go into
a paused state and do not reboot.
I then have to kill them via xl and restart them.
