HI, I've just begun using libvirt as part of my KVM installation and have been having some confusion regarding networking of my virtual guests. I'm not sure if I should even be sending this to this mailing list and if not please let me know and if possible where I should be sending this inquiry. I understand I can setup a dedicated bridged interface for my guest. But as for the virbr

Network questions
Hi all, When creating a new network: 1) Is there a way to disable automatic spawning of dnsmasq on network creation? I read that leaving out the <DHCP> section should accomplish this, but that is not what I am seeing. 2) Is there a way to disable automatic installation of iptables rules? 3) For that matter, what is the purpose of the default iptables rule set? Doesn't

Is there a way to suppress netfilter rules (default.xml)?
Hi, in order to get hook scripts to work, I used a backported version of libvirtd on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Here are the details: Compiled against library: libvir 0.8.3 Using library: libvir 0.8.3 Using API: QEMU 0.8.3 Running hypervisor: QEMU 0.12.5 After adjusting the apparmor profile to accept the hook scripts under /etc/libvirt/hooks/, I am able to start and stop domains again, but only the

dnsmasq does not start
Hi! I am trying to run tap networking with libvirtd. My test system is Fedora18/ppc64, libvirt 1.0.4 (compiled from git and installed). On another system with Fedora17/ppc64 with the same settings, dnsmasq is running. All configs in /etc/libvirt/ are default and not changed, the only exception is /etc/libvirt/qemu/networks/default.xml which I copied from Fedora17/ppc64 setup. What does

Bizarre Networking
Hi, I''ve bit the bullet and gone with Xen, but I get some odd networking. Basically, this was the original idea. eth0 external eth1 internal create bridge br0 for eth0 create bridge br1 for eth1 Strip IP addresses for eth0 and eth1 and assign to br0 and br1 respectively. Worked great in a non-xen kernel under Fedora 8 in KVM/Qemu. Booting into Xen, my eth1 becomes eth2, I also get

Configuration Issues
Hi Folks, I am a Samba newbie and needed some assistance with my configuration. I am trying to run Samba 2.2.2 (on Solaris 8 Intel Version) downloaded from Sunfreeware.com and have a Windows 2000 Professional box. I believed I followed the directions in SAMBA-How-To carefully but cannot get connection from a DOS prompt. When I run the command below from my UNIX box, here is what I get: The

nfs, 64 / 32 bit, locking problem
Well, next problem. Because of samba isn't running on alphaserver 1200 with gentoo linux and kernel 2.6.9-ac12 i've simply exported my smbroot (on alpha, it is my fileserver) and have samba running on an intel pentium4 box, also gentoo, kernel 2.6.0-ac12. Seems to work, eccept some locking problems. smbd[9450]: [2005/02/08 17:29:51, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(657) smbd[9450]:

Lamer needs help for basic tc setup
Hi fellows, i''m just a newbie to use the cool tc and played around the last 2 weeks. I''m quite confident - in theory - what''s possible and the basic difference between the queuing disciplines. We''re using a Fedora Core 3 box as Gateway (iptables,tc,iproute2 with NAT). Clients are coming in via eth1 and outgouing traffic (2Mbit/s SDSL) through eth0. So we

[PATCH node] Filters out all non-physical networking devices.
This patch will scan through the list of devices that have the net.80203 capability. It will then also ensure that only those which originate from a physical device and are not logical devices are presented. Resolves: rhbz#511369 Signed-off-by: Darryl L. Dom0 cannot see network when bridge is enabled
I''ve seen a lot of threads w/ similar problems, but none have posted a resolution. I am using Debian 4.0r1 (Etch). I was using the xen packages from stable, but have tried w/ testing as well and the problem persists. http://pastie.caboo.se/95144 Host is 10.0.0.20 on network 10.0.0.0/24. Dom0 is thus 10.0.0.20 DomU is 10.0.0.30 When the bridge is enabled, DomU can ping everything.

Eronious comment in sample Director configuration
The sample Director configuration (10-director.conf) says that director_servers and director_mail_servers can be lists of either IPs or hostnames: # List of IPs or hostnames to all director servers, including ourself. # Ports can be specified as ip:port. The default port is the same as # what director service's inet_listener is using. #director_servers = # List of IPs or hostnames to all
