Port forwarding from non-xenbridged external interface to xen-interface
Hello everybody, I have an odd problem with iptables using a Xen bridge setup. I don''t know if it would be better to post to netfilter Mailing-List. But I hope someone here know how to solve it. If it''s OT here, please let me know. I''ll try to do a little bit ASCII-Graphics to explain the topo better: _________ ________

Strange TCP-Problem with GPL PV 0.8.8
Hi all, I have a strange problem with GPL PV 0.8.8 (0.6.4 did work). On my 2nd vif I cannot establish TCP connections. The 3rd IP packet (ACK from XEN-Image) is not forwarded by XEN/DOM0-Bridge. If I boot Windows without /GPLPV option, everything works fine. I did some investigation and found out that the packages arrive differently if GPLPV is enabled. "br_inet" is a bridge

netfilter + vpn + how/why + etc...
Hi, I have a few questions about the inner workings of netfilter (a graphical layout of my network setup @ https://aequorin.homeunix.net:62389/local/media/network-graph.png) 1) These are the syslog entries for some simple connection tests. Shorewall/netfilter has been set to record all stateful connections SSH is recognized as phys(eth0) -> $FW traffic. This is because PHYSIN is

Proper setup for a router with 2 interfaces and a bridge on one?
I''m working on setting up a new router/server/etc. box. I''m using Proxmox as the base system (Debian Lenny basically). I''m trying to figure out the right way to configure Shorewall on it. I''ve looked at some of the bridging info but they seem to all be talking about single-interface setups. Could someone look over my setup and give me some input into the

Docker Bridge - Howto deal with it?
Hello, I have started playing around with docker (https://www.docker.io/) and am having trouble to integrate the "docker0" bridge it creates on the fly into my shorewall setup (version 4.5.16.1) on debian testing. IP forwarding is on and I have defined a "doc" ipv4 zone and the interfaces has an entry like so, > doc docker0

[Bridge] 2.6.12: iptables connection tracking broken on bridge interfaces
Hi! As noted by Chris Rankin on a mail to netfilter-devel and to the linux-kernel mailing list (subject: 2.6.12: connection tracking broken?), there is a problem with the connection tracking of iptables when one of the interfaces is a bridge. On my tests here I have setup a connection between two machines using a real interface (eth0) and then the same setup using a bridge interface (br0) to

network-routing
Dear Xen-Users, I use Xen 3.1.0_15042 on my OpenSuSE-10.3-computer. Without starting the xen-kernel I can connect my second computer via my native computer to the internet. After starting the xen-kernel the xen-bridge came automatically up. How can I configure the xen-bridge or the xen-devices? I get routing problems: Feb 20 18:31:36 intel6550 kernel: martian source 217.237.149.142 from

Multicast only working in promiscuous mode
Hi, I am trying to set up a uPnP server on a Linux box (Debian Sarge Stable kernel 2.6.8). uPnP works using multicast packages for locating servers. This does however seem to fail unless I set the relevant NIC in promiscuous mode. If I do so, it works well. I have added ip route add 224.0.0.0/4 dev eth0 and echo 1 >/proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward and the kernel is set up to enable

Promiscuous mode of bridge-networking in Dom0
Hi, I saw a nice mail about bridging in Xen at http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.user/9538. Can I ask you a quick question? I''ve set up bridge-networking for Xen 3.0and networking was being done properly for Dom0 and DomUs. However, I noticed that Dom0 receives a lot of network interrupts or network packets even when they were not actually meant for either Dom0 or DomU.

Hi all, I am trying to enable promiscuous mode on a kvm switch due to sniff all traffic using snort installed on a kvm guest. I have found a partial solution configuring this bridge with "brctl setaging br0 0", but all vms sees all traffic. I think the soultion is using ebtables but I didn't found any doc about how can I do under kvm (and upstream recommends disable this

vmware promiscuous mode
As a heads up to everyone, VMware requires you to take special precautions when trying to put a virtual nic into promiscuous mode, which is required for Xen networking to work. I spent a fair amount of time diagnosing Xen network problems when it wasn''t Xen at all. As I was just beginning to learn Xen, I was convinced it was something I was doing wrong, when it wasn''t at
