a VM does not get dhcp
hi everybody
I'm looking at my setup and got stuck
I have a box with two NICs on the same subnet, and another
box similar, also two NICs on one subnet, all four NICs are
on the same subnet.
Now, that second box has also a virtual NIC (libvirtd's
bridge route mode) and VMs guests are using it, traffic to
that virtual net is routed via 1st real NIC. This second box

Re: a VM does not get dhcp
Okay. I may be missing something; from what you explicitly write about
subnets, it sounds like you only have one, but if you don't have two
subnets, why do you need a DHCP relay? SO. Assuming you have two
subnets:
* It sounds as if your DHCP request is generating an ACK.
* I'm 99% sure your ACK has to traverse the DHCP helper and wend its way
back to the originating host.
So

dhcrelay on router
Hi,
I''m setting up a router (linux, debian-sarge), which shall relay dhcp requests
from all subnets to a central DHCP server. The general stuff is solved, i.e.
I can ping from any connected machine to any other including the NICs of the
router itself. All firewall tables (including nat and mangle) are set to
ACCEPT and flushed.
On my model system I have the NIC 172.16.1.121 (eth1),

configuring dhcp-relay / Shorewall
In our LAN a Linux-router connects 2 subnets. On this router dhcrelay is
running.
For several reasons we have to run a firewall on this box. But what is
the right way to configure dhcrelay using Shorewall???
Thanks.

Re: Need to increase the rx and tx buffer size of my interface
Hi Ashish,
I have tested with your xml in the first mail, and it works for
rx_queue_size(see
below).
multiqueue need to work with vhost backend driver. And when you set
"queues=1" it will ignored.
Please check your qemu-kvm-rhev package, should be newer than
qemu-kvm-rhev-2.9.0-16.el7_4.2
And the logs?
tx_queue_size='512' will not work in the guest with direct type interface,

Hi Ashish,
IMO, it is yes, no way to increase tx_queue_size for direct type interface

Followup to "pxe weirdness" in syslinux archives
I'm running across the same weirdness mentioned in the "pxe weirdness"
thread in the archives:
http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2003-July/002229.html
I couldn't find any followups to the issue. Was it a misconfiguration
error? My setup is similar to James': I'm attempting to do a PXE install
using DHCP sent via dhcrelay. I get the right IP, netmask, etc. but get

Re: Need to increase the rx and tx buffer size of my interface
Hi Michal,
What I found was that when I restarted the machine and did a virsh edit
command to see the xml config, I see that it is was not actually changed.
This suggests why I saw 256 again after restarting.
So now I tried again to edit the xml via virsh edit command and used the
following to set the parameters.
<driver name='qemu' txmode='iothread' ioeventfd='on'

Samba4 shares slow
Hi there
I set up a POC domain with multiple DCs, multiple remote sites and samba
shares. This POC is a simulation of a whole samba3 domain migration.
Users, and groups have been imported from the older domain to the new one.
Here's the setup:
("Remote sites" are actually different subnets on the same location for
the POC)
*Main Site*:

DC2 (RHEL7 -

peer rejected but connected
Logs from newly added node helped me in RCA of the issue.
Info file on node 10.5.6.17 consist of an additional property
"tier-enabled" which is not present in info file from other 3 nodes, hence
when gluster peer probe call is made, in order to maintain consistency
across the cluster cksum is compared. In this
case as both files are different leading to different cksum, causing state

Re: Unit libvirtd.service could not be found. on VM
Thanks,
I discovered I had wrong permissions for /var/lib/libvirt/qemu/, after
setting them to drwxr-x--x. qemu qemu and executing daemon-reload
libvirtd.service exists now on my vms :)
However - I'm not able to get it to run. In the journal I see the message
libvirtd[6800]: Unable to import CA certificate list
/etc/pki/vdsm/certs/cacert.pem
I have verified its permissions and that it's

Re: Unit libvirtd.service could not be found. on VM
Thanks, Michal,
On my laptop I do have libguestfs and libvirt-daemon-qemu. both
libvirtd.service and libvirtd.socket are running ok on my laptop
I just realized I haven't mentioned - my vms intend to serve as hosts
themselves, and that's why they, too, need to have libvirtd.service running
on them.
up to recently I didn't have such a problem when I installed a vm on my
laptop -

net.ipv4.conf.all.forwarding
hi everybody
I'd like to ask how libvirtd influences
net.ipv4.conf.all.forwarding, would you know?
I've noticed that if I use host's bridge, therefor there is
no <forward mode= > in my network then
"net.ipv4.conf.all.forwarding" goes back to 0.
Is this intended I wonder? Looks like libvirt decides it's
user responsibility now.
many thanks
