Segfaults on connection loss
Hi there, I'm seeing quite frequent segfaults around check_dead_connections() and terminate_connection() when the tcp meta connection to a node times out (or is e.g. firewalled), usually it happens when there's heavy packet loss: Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault. #0 edge_del (e=0x1b71ba0) at edge.c:96 96 avl_delete(e->from->edge_tree, e); (gdb)

Performance issue with TunnelServer mode
Hi, We have a tinc network of about ~200 hosts and in the full mesh configuration we've had a lot of problems with the edge propagation storms taking the entire network down. Recently we had a setup with a small number of "hubs" to which all the other nodes connected to, which limited the number of meta connections, but that didn't help much with the edge propagation issues.

Storm Clustering using clusters in evd
Hi, I am using the clusters function in the evd package in order to determine storm events from a wave time series. So far I have the code working as I want it for wave height on its own but I would now like to include the period as well. The input data is in the form of: H t H t H t so every height measurement has a corresponding period. The storms are defined when the wave height exceeds a

KDB+DDB make interrupt storm on MSI motherboards go away it seems
I admit I was scepticle of this suggestion - but it actually seems to have worked. COmpiling a straight GENERIC kernel with KDB and DDB included do seem to have made my irq22 interrupt storms go away. Certainly I have spent some time trying to provoke the problem and not managed to make it read it's ugly head again. The thing is though, this doen't make me particularly happy - as I am

silent storm demo
Wine has no direct3d9 support yet, we havent quite got to it, so all there is at present is stubs. I dont know whether winex would help here, but dont expect d3d9 support in the near future, as I am working on ironing out the bugs in our d3d8 support and I havent even started on looking at its performance. Installers are always worrying under wine. They are getting better over time, but not

Cool: using Wine to dissect the Storm bot!
http://blog.mellenthin.de/archives/2008/12/30/25c3-hangover/ says, in a writeup about the recent CCC meeting, "Sehr interessant war Squeezing Attack Traces und Stormfucker: Owning the Storm Botnet. Zuerst wurden konkrete Techniken gezeigt, wie man Malware analysieren kann. Die Zentrale Idee ist hier, statt eine Sandbox (Windows in einer VM) zu verwenden, die Requests unter Linux an Wine

Internet Storm Center blogpost on rootcheck (a system auditor)
Hello everyone, If you haven't seen it: https://isc.sans.edu/forums/diary/Quick+Audit+of+NIX+Systems/20771/ I just compiled and ran it on CentOS 5 and 6. The audit came up clean for me. It's worth a run to see if you have anything blatant wrong...or to see if you have been rooted. WINS unicast name restration storm
We recently migrated to an active directory controlled domain with the old linux pdc becoming just a member of the new domain. It previously had served as the WINS server. The WINS server settings update was missed on a few printers and these printers continued sending unicast name registration requests to the linux server. With over 300 requests per second being sent from these printers, it came

Wine-users mail storm - long explanation
Hi All, >>>Clarification: I'm getting a flood of wine-users emails. Yes, I'm seeing this too. I spent all day today trying to understand why this is happening, and failed, but I think I have just now figured it out. As far as I can tell, the flood of messages are all the messages that were posted to the newsgroup since the last time the newsgroup and wine-users mailman list

SIP OPTIONS "storm"?
Greetings- I recently experienced an odd situation. I have an Asterisk 11.5.0 system (Box A) with a SIP peering to another Asterisk 1.8.23.0 system (Box B). At some point, Box A started sending over 65Mbps of SIP OPTIONS packets to Box A. I do have qualify=yes for the peer on both sides, and the qualifyfreq is not set (aka default of 60secs). Of course, logs on Box A were not set to show debug

Changing storm-prevention behaviour in logger.conf
Dear List, According to https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=14905 there is a storm prevention mechanism in newer Asterisks. If i look in my logfile, i see : [2010-04-17 15:12:01] NOTICE[1190] chan_sip.c: Registration from '"xxxx" <sip:xxx at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>' failed for 'xx.xx.xx.xx' - Wrong password [2010-04-17 15:12:01] NOTICE[1190] chan_sip.c: Last message

Interrupt storm with shared interrupt on digi(4)
I have an on-going problem with DigiBoard Xem boards causing interrupt storms (since 4.x days). The FreeBSD driver polls the board and doesn't have a functional interrupt handler (and Linux behaves in the same way). It seems that under some conditions, the board will assert its interrupt line and, since there's no interrupt handler to clear whatever triggered the interrupt, the IRQ is

Bug ID: 26222 - SMB Storm
Please include the following to bug ID: 26222 at: http://bugs.samba.org/?findid=26222 More checking shows that closing a search window on Windows in the middle of it's search doesn't stop the SMB activity. Network utilization remains high, and it seems as if the server is stuck searching. In an attempt to verify, I created a share on Win2k, and followed the same procedure: Server:

Broadcast-Storm
Hi, I've got a small tinc network (switched) set up and it usually works fine. But sometimes i get echos from my own broadcasts and sometimes this even leads to a broadcast storm (two nodes forwarding the broadcasts in circle, thus flooding the whole network with copies of the same packet). I'm currently unsure on how to debug this using tinc. So my questions are: - How does tinc handle
