Hello,
I try to use Samba as a PDC. I have a old Windows 4.0 PDC and I want to get
the users and the groups from the PDC.
I joined the domain and get the users and groups with "net rpc vampire". The
users and the groups were written in
local user- and group-database, but the relation between the users and
groups were lost, in the groups were no users.

GIS re-mapping / polygon overlap
In Germany the Unemployment Agency uses a sectioning of the german map that

How to grow an R object from C (.Call Interface)
What is the best way to grow an R return object in writing a C function
using the Rdefines.h macros.
In my application, the final size of the return object is not known during
construction. My understanding is that each time I grow an R object I have to
use PROTECT() again, probably before UNPROTECTing the smaller version.
However, due to the stack character of the PROTECT mechanism, UNPROTECT

Recursive indexing can cause R-1.8.0 (and R-1.7.1) to segment fault
First of all, many thanks to the R team!!
R is really a software for everyday work.
Yes, I've found a fault, but I hope it's not just faultfinding ;-)
In the NEWS file of R-1.8.0, first printed in R NEWS 1.7.1,
there was given a promise: [ 1 ]

Wine, JACK and midi?
Hey there,
I'm a bit new to WINE, not used it much outside of when I used to play
Diablo II on it a year or two ago.
Anyways, another thing I'm currently experimenting with is music
composition. I've got my Rosegarden (sequencer) and qsynth running
over JACK, but frankly, the free soundfonts I've found have been
pretty dire. The level of cheese involved is enough to kill a man.

Packet mangling latency
Firstly... sorry to those of you on both the netfilter and lartc list
who''ll end up with this message twice...
I am trying to find out what kind of latency I can expect when dNAT''ing
UDP packets on (probably) a mid-range P3 server, 32-bit 33MHz PCI bus with
Intel EEPro NICs. It''ll most likely be running whatever the latest 2.4
kernel will be at the time, unless there

Re: about cubase and asio...
Firstly, I want to thank you for finding some way for Cubase Studio 4.1.2 to work with Wine. I currently own Cubase 4 and it is the only thing keeping me from moving to Ubuntu. If I can get Cubase 4.5.2 to work with my Audiophile 2496 on Ubuntu (and it work well), I can finally ditch Vista.
Reulle, since you've tested Cubase Studio 4.1.2 successfully, have you run into any further issues,

Running Cubase with wine - HOW?
I am completely new to Linux and Wine. I've tried to make Wine work since some 1999, but never had patience with it. Tried reading guides, manuals and so on, but things did not work. All Linux versions I've tried have never run any windows-based programs after I installed Wine (and used to install a propper version of wine - that corresponds to Linux version) - what I did is what is said

OGG in RIFF-WAVE (encoding with MSACM)
So i'm trying to write an app that enocodes WAV files to "Ogg in a RIFF-WAV"
files. Theese are used in Fruity Loops, and since the software itself does
not have
this feature i wanted to write one myself. The point for it is to save space
when
sharing "zipped loop packages". Such packages contain the samples (WAV) and
the song
file (FLP). At first i wrote just an encoder

I've thought of doing lossy compression before on instruments, but I'd
much rather stick to lossless, at least for now. There are issues to be

Is This Really Legal?
I'm about to buy a new computer and give my old computer to my Mom. Because I will giving my old computer to my mom, I will be loosing my Windows XP license.
I can either get a nice computer with a Windows Lincense or I can buy and really honking mega awesome computer without a Windows License.
Naturally, I would rather buy a "honking mega awesome computer" instaed of a "nice
