[PATCH libnbd] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
I spent a good few hours this morning trying to make this work and came up with the following patch. It's not quite right though. The exception I've created exists in the libnbdmod module (ie. the underlying C module that we use for the Python bindings). Ideally we'd define and throw an exception from the normal nbd module, but I couldn't work out how to do that. Probably

[nbdkit PATCH 0/2] Another libnbd API bump
libnbd 0.1.7 was released today, which breaks compilation of nbdkit-nbd-plugin. We could work around it by using #ifdef LIBNBD_HAVE_XXX to learn about the renamed functions, but supporting older versions is not all that important when we don't yet have API stability. So patch 1 copes by just bumping the minimum version instead, except that we have yet another pending libnbd patch with an API

[PATCH libnbd v2] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
This kind of fixes the problems in v1. The exception still primarily lives in the libnbdmod and you could still refer to it using libnbdmod.Error (but don't do that). However when the exception is printed it now appears as nbd.Error, and you can catch it also using the same name. Other problems: - There is no "nice" interface to accessing the exception fields. You have to use

[PATCH libnbd v3] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
Following Eric's suggestions from v2, this adds .string, .errno and .__str__ properties. The .string property returns the error string. The .errno property returns the errno (from the errno module), or None. The __str__ property makes the exception nicely printable. Rich.

[PATCH libnbd 0/5] WIP: python: Add test for doing asynch copy.
This doesn't yet work. However it does make me more convinced than ever that we really need to sort out persistent buffer lifetimes in the library (similar to what we did for closures). Rich.

[PATCH libnbd v2 0/3] python: Add test for doing asynch copy.
v1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-August/msg00103.html In v2 I've made several changes: - Fix Python callbacks so if they don't return something which is int-like, we assume they mean to return 0. - Add nbd.Buffer free() method. Read commit message in patch 2 to see what this is about. - Fixed the asynch copy test to deal with the unbelievably

[libnbd PATCH] nbdsh: Start adding unit tests
Ultimately, I'd like to add a unit test covering our recent fix for handling globals from consecutive -c, but let's start with a simple test that --help output is sane. Sanity includes a mention of the man page for more details (similar to nbdkit --help, although I couldn't figure out how to make python's argparse output that sentence last). --- python/nbdsh.py | 3 ++-

[PATCH libnbd] api: nbd_get_version, nbd_supports_uri and nbd_get_package_name.
nbd_get_version returns the library version as a string. nbd_supports_uri returns whether or not the library was compiled with NBD URI support (ie. with libxml2). nbd_get_package_name is fairly useless as it always returns the string "libnbd", however it replaces a function that was written for the Python bindings. These take a handle parameter but don't need to use it. Changing

[nbdkit PATCH] extents: Cap maximum reply length
A devious plugin can cause an 8-fold increase in the reply size in relation to the request size, by alternating status every byte of the request. In the worst case, this can cause the client to reject our response and kill the connection because the response is too large. What's more, it consumes a lot of memory to track that many extents. Let's put an upper bound on the maximum number of

compiling fedora srpm on CentOS
I tried installing fedora grpc srpm on CentOS and ran into following error when installing srpm. I understand fedora makes use of more recent versions of openssl, glibc etc but why should this happen when installing source rpm? Any pointers/articles on how to go about building fedora srpms on CentOS? Any way out other than building directly using sources? rpm -i grpc-1.17.1-3.fc30.i686.rpm

[libnbd PATCH] docs: Add libnbd-security(1) man page
Copies heavily after a similar addition recently made in nbdkit. --- I'm not sure if .1 or .3 fits better for the man page. With nbdkit, .1 made sense because 'nbdkit' is a standalone program; but with libnbd, our only standalone is nbdsh, yet naming it nbdsh-security seems off. docs/Makefile.am | 7 +++++++ docs/libnbd-security.pod | 32 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

[PATCH libnbd v2] python: Raise a custom exception containing error string and errno.
