[PATCH nbdkit v2] tests: Rename and rework test-ipv4.sh so it tests
This is my second go at reworking the ‘test-ipv4.sh’ test. Instead of merely connecting to the server using socat, use ‘qemu-img info’ so that the test is slightly more realistic. Also clean up old PID and log files before starting the test. Previous version was posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-January/msg00253.html Rich.

[PATCH nbdkit 0/2] tests: Minor reworking of tests.
Small reworking of tests to remove $QEMU_IO, making that consistent with other test tools, and to test IPv6 connections.

[nbdkit PATCH] tests: Accommodate qemu-img 4.1 output change
Where qemu-img 4.0 used to say 'virtual size: 100M', the 4.1 release now says 'virtual size: 100 MiB'. Similarly, '5.0G' turned into '5 GiB'. Update expected test output to tolerate either version of qemu. Signed-off-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> --- I already know I want to send a v2; on IRC, Rich pointed out that 'qemu-img info --output=json'

Where qemu-img 4.0 used to say 'virtual size: 100M', the 4.1 release now says 'virtual size: 100 MiB'. Similarly, '5.0G' turned into '5 GiB'. But rather than worry about potential future changes to the human-readable output, we can just use --output=json (at which point we no longer even have to force qemu-img to the C locale). It might be slightly more robust to

[PATCH nbdkit] tests: Remove QEMU_IO / HAVE_QEMU_IO.
Currently we test for qemu-img, socat, ss, certtool, etc at run time, but we test for qemu-io at compile time (in ./configure). This commit removes this inconsistency. I would consider the opposite patch (which makes qemu-img etc tested at configure time). The main advantage of testing for these binaries at run time is that tests are not "silently" omitted. Instead tests with

[PATCH libnbd] generator: Pass LISTEN_FDNAMES=nbd with systemd socket activation
systemd allows sockets passed through socket activation to be named with the protocol they require. We only ever pass one socket, name it. This environment variable is currently ignored by qemu-nbd and nbdkit, but might be used by qemu-storage-daemon: https://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2023-01/msg06114.html --- generator/states-connect-socket-activation.c | 41

[PATCH libnbd v2 0/4] Pass LISTEN_FDNAMES with systemd socket activation
This is an alternative approach to https://listman.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2023-January/030535.html After discussing this with Dan Berrange we came to the conclusion that you really might want to set LISTEN_FDNAMES to arbitrary short strings (or not set it). Especially when talking to qemu-storage-daemon which would allow you to use these names on the command line. Rich.

[PATCH libnbd v2 0/2] Implement systemd socket activation.
v1 was posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-September/thread.html#00337 v2: - Drop the first patch. - Hopefully fix the multiple issues with fork-safety and general behaviour on error paths. Note this requires execvpe for which there seems to be no equivalent on FreeBSD, except some kind of tedious path parsing (but can we assign to environ?) Rich.

Suggestion for merging xl save/restore/migrate/migrate-receive
Hi, As we talked in http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2013-09/msg00211.html , I have a suggestion: what about merging xl save/restore/migrate/migrate-receive? Here is the description: xl-migrate.rst Also there is a workaround for the xl migration daemon example: xl-migrate-socat.rst Patch for the example: xen-xl-migrate-socat.patch (I don''t have enough knowledge to
