CentOS 5.1 x86 medium installation problems
Hi, I had downloaded CentOS 5.1 x86 DVD image, and although it passed sha1sum or md5sum test and I burned it verifying it, installation failed. Also if I recall correctly, when I tested the medium during install, it failed although as I said the media was verified. ==> The same things happen with Scientific Linux 5.1 x86 installation DVD, so perhaps it is a Red Hat EL 5.1 x86 DVD issue?

CentOS 5 x86: Missing features
Hi, I am surprised how some features are missing from CentOS 5. So far, I found missing: 1) GNOME Session does not prompt for saving on log out. 2) There isn't a "Run" option in the GNOME menus for running programs.

Cross-platform GUI libraries with drag 'n drop IDEs
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. I am a programmer, relatively new to GNU/Linux and am looking for cross platform GUI development, mainly for EL5 and Windows. I have found wxWidgets so far. I prefer drag 'n drop programming IDEs, QT seems to provide this for GNU/Linux, but it isn't free for Windows. Does anyone know of any decent GUI cross-platform library for EL5 and Windows with a drag 'n

Coping music from tapes
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. Hi, I have some old music tapes and a walkman, and want to move the music to mp3 format. So far I am thinking to use Audacity to record the music to wavs, and then do not know, somehow I will compress the wavs to mp3s as vbr 192 Kbps with something. Has anyone done this? What app did you use for recording the music from the tapes and what app did you use to make it mp3?

IMAP hibernate feature committed
http://hg.dovecot.org/dovecot-2.2/rev/64c73e6bd397 Today I finally committed the "imap-hibernate" feature that I first started developing about a year ago (and had been thinking about for several years before that). The main purpose here is to reduce the number of imap processes and the amount of memory they use by moving IDLEing connections into imap-hibernate processes where they are

Windows not reconnecting after Standby
Thank you very much. I can confirm that the TAP-WIN32 driver behaves differently. The quick tests so far revealed that it either reconnected after Standby and Hibernation. I think that at some point I started using the OpenVPN drivers when I had either had trouble with unsigned drivers or the network detection and then just stayed with it. Thanks for pointing out my self-made problem. On

[BUG] doveadm kick doesn't play well with hibernate
Hello, Dovecot 2.2.27 (Debian Jessie backports). When issuing a "doveadm kick" for a specific user I was greeted by: --- "warning: other connections would also be kicked from following users:" --- and a list of 22odd thousand users. As it turns out, kick wants to smack the hibernation proces(ses) that have hibernated sessions for this user, obviously the wrong approach here.

Getting hibernate to work on a new CentOS 7.2.1115 install
Hi, Thank you for this. > cat /sys/power/state I get: freeze mem > cat /sys/power/disk [disabled] > The first should include 'disk' and the second should say enabled or some such. So, clearly this is not set correctly. How do I make these changes, if I am allowed to? > Note that hibernation is probably not supported by theCentOS kernel if this is on a UEFI computer with

Kernel Panic with wl.ko (Broadcom wireless driver) [CentOS 5.4]
Been experimenting with CentOS 5.4 some more. In order to get my wireless card to work (Broadcom BCM4311) I need Broadcom's wl.ko driver (http:// www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php). It compiles fine after the necessary modification in typedef.h, loads and wireless works. However, as soon as I put some load on that interface (scp something from another machine, download

No sound after hibernate
Hello, if I hibernate my notebook, suspend to disk in package hibernate-tuxonice-1.97-1cubbi2, with CentOS 5 and Kde 3.5.8 the sound isn't working any more after waking it up. So I try to disable the sound modules in /etc/hibernate/blacklisted-modules, but this failes with a 'Some modules failed to unload' error message. Also 'rmmod MODULNAME' failed with a 'is in use'

CentOS 6.8 with current kernel fails with pm-hibernate (cifsd refuses to freeze)

Just a historic note or something ;) I think this is a very common issue: cifs vs hibernation, it's not only this kernel, nor CentOS6. I tried hard when facing this issue, and
