asterisk and gnokii on same server: scratchy sound
Hi,
Has anyone tried to use gnokii to send/receive SMS messages via serial or USB with AT commands while running Asterisk?
Some of my calls have a "scratchy sound" once in a while. It doesn't seem to be due to packet loss but some kind of interference (CPU is ok, etc.). I've noticed some coincidence in time between this scratchy sound and the gnokii process. I have a bash

5.9, GNOKII, SMS and Huawei [ E160G | E176 ]
Hi
I want to setup a SMS system for Nagios on a 5.9 box.
I read in a blog that the two modems Huawei [ E160G | E176 ] work with 6.3.
Anybody any experience with those modems and do they work with 5.9?
Are there any other devices that are better/recommended?
Thanks

Rebuilding PHP: how do I manage updates?
Hi,
Our public library management software (PMB) runs on Apache/PHP/MySQL.
It requires some additional PHP modules to run correctly, namely:
1) php-gd
2) php-yaz
3) php-xslt
I've googled and fiddled around quite a bit, and come to the following
conclusions:
1) php-gd can be installed from extra repos (rpmforge IIRC), so this
one's no problem.
2) To install php-yaz, I have to

can't login to remote cvs server
Hi Everyone,
I have, for the first time, installed and minimally configured a cvs
server on a CentOS 5 box. I followed a "how to" to do the initial
configuration, so I'm sure I haven't done anything wrond (according to
the "how to", anyway). But, I keep getting this error:
$ CVSROOT=:pserver:ksandhu at kermit:/var/cvs/asterisk

Hi All:
I'm trying to rebuild the kvm SRPM (kvm-83-164.el5_5.9.src.rpm)

I have already run "yum-builddep <srpm>" and here is the output

Hi all,
I'm trying to make my cvs STABLE 08/10 srpms build properly on an

leaking file descriptors? imap-login: inotify_init() failed
Even though the system is configured to allow a large number of open
files, and tools such as lsof tell me dovecot is within that limit; I am
seeing errors like this pretty frequently.

I'm running Fedora Core 5 (2.6.18-1.2257.fc5 SMP x86_64) with

best source for rpmdevtools RPM in C5
hello,
I'm going to try this question again. The first time I botched it and the answers I got were useless.
I want to use rpmdevtools to help with some packaging chores. There is no C5 version that I can find. I've located an SRC RPM in a location that is known to be C5 compatible. There are 2 versions of rpmdevtools:

Havp Version 0.86 RPM ?
Hi,
I want to use Havp Version 0.86 with SQUID on CENTOS 4.4 and 5. But, no Havp
0.86 RPM still can not be found. I want to build Havp 0.86 RPM and SRPM by
using the tarball. So, I got havp.spec file written for Havp 0.82 and
changed its version to Version: 0.86 .
Then, I did below command.

ant RPM for CentOS 4
Attempting to build OpenOffice 2 on CentOS 4 from rawhide (future FC5) SRPM.
The spec file has EL4 target (which is nice), and I got almost all dependencies
in place (mostly from 4.2beta and some from rawhide). However, I'm missing the
ant package. Ant from rawhide doesn't compile since it is already gcc 4 based
(fails on dependencies, getting it to use gcc4 instead of gcc seems like

Why no RPM/SRPM for Samba v2.0.2?
Since Samba v2.0.2 was announced I've been waiting for it to show up in
RedHat RPM/SRPM format. So far, it hasn't shown up on any of the Samba
mirror sites.
Will RPM/SRPM packages be made available for v2.0.2?
Thank you.

Flow-Tools RPM for CentOS 5.3
Alle,
Does anyone know if there is/where to get an rpm of flow-tools V0.66 or
better for CentOS/RHEL 5.3?
We've been trying to build from the SRPM @
http://cng.ateneo.net/cng/wyu/software/srpm/flow-tools-0.68-2.src.rpm
with no luck.
Best Regards,

Postfix 2.2.x RPM ETA
Guys
I'm desperately looking for a postfix 2.2.x SRPM. I currently use 2.1.5..
I've found these, http://ftp.wl0.org/yum/postfix/2.2/rhel4/SRPMS.postfix/
Has anyone tried them, or can anyone recommend a proper SRPM for me
for Centos 4.1?
Kind regards

OT: Dropbox - Fedora Core 9 RPM will work on CentOS 5.4?
Dropbox has an RPM for Fedora Core 9 (x86). I am running CentOS 5.4 on
my Desktop, which I believe is based on Fedora Core 6. Are the
libraries Fedora Core 9 uses substantially different than those CentOS
5.4 uses? If Dropbox had an SRPM available, I would Download that and
Rebuild, but I'm sure it is Proprietary and they won't release an SRPM
to me. TIA!

Autorollback Patches for CentOS 4 RPM
Hi all,
For anyone interested, I have just ported James Oden's
Autorollback/Autorollback-goal RPM patches to the version of RPM present
inside of CentOS 4.
The patched RPMs, SRPM and raw patches can be found online here:
http://hackers.progeny.com/~sam/RPM-Autorollback/
Specifically, you can find those for CentOS 4 here:

icecast 1.3.11 rpm
I went looking for redhat icecast rpm's and didn't find any for the most
recent version. The PLD ones, while usually being a good replacement,
didn't work as they dpeend on their version of the init scripts.
So I fixed up some of the spec files I found and the resulting i386 and
SRPM can be downloaded from
