Moin, I am using a kind of VoIP Software (Echolink) that run perfekt with the build in soundcard. But I want to use my headset, that appears as soundcard 1 (hw:1.0). I just installed EVE, started it up no problem and started playing. Graphics looked great, sound was perfect, then 5 minutes later EVE crashes. As of WINE 1.3.19 the Onlive client connects and runs nicely. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04, and no firewall software to let it connect. The only problem mouse input (DirectInput I guess) does not work while controlling a player in any games I've tried. It work fine in the Onlive interface and even during in-game menu systems. Hi all, I've got a strange problem with wine and eve-online. Eve loads up, lets me login and choose character, but freezes 10-15 seconds after that, pegging the cpu at 99% until I kill the process. I have only tried to run these two programs. I am using wine 1.1 and whenever I try to run skillride.exe ( an online poker game) the program will start and I can select a table, but it will stop responding when I attempt to sit down at the table. I had just installed Linux Mint katya on my Dell Dimension 5000 computer because Windows kept making it lag and so on. I installed Wine and Steam soon after installing it, but whenever I tried to launch Steam it always crashes and quits as soon as the welcome and update screens pop up. You don't need to reinvent anything to tie radios to *. Ham systems like IRLP, Echolink, eqso etc all have fairly tight controls to keep from being abused (although with a little Linux knowledge, the IRLP package can easily be used to set up your own network using their protocol).
