Re: 2.4.20 htb3 oops
Hi everyone, I am having problems with "oopses" since I introduced HTB on my company''s PC-based routers. It seems that only routers with high network load are affected. The average network load on the two most problematic routers are 10Mbps in/out and 2.5Mbps in/out. The other machines with less than 1Mbps average traffic seems unaffected. We have been getting oopses on

smbmount question
Hi, I'm running Linux 2.2.2 w/ Samba 2.0.2, using the smbmount that comes with Samba 2.0.2. I noticed that when I mount shares, smbmount sticks around, almost like a daemon: [root@jason /root]# smbmount //XXXX.gatech.edu/XXXX$ "XXXXXX" -U jkau -c "mount /mnt/cnd" < /dev/null > /tmp/smbmount.out [root@jason /root]# ps ax | grep smbmount 10678 ? I s this possible. I am currently running Network Neighborhood and have been using this application for access but this requires that I scan mount and log-on again before gaining access to that share.

smbmount cannot browse large NT directories
This is a problem I get with various versions of Samba, up to and including 2.0.7. (The version shipped with Debian.) I have an NT machine (4.0, service-pack 3 using NTFS) exporting a filesystem to Linux through smbmount. Specific directories are not browsable. By that I mean that "ls *" comes up blank, however if you know the filename, "ls foo.txt" will still find the

smbfs Unicode patch for 2.4.x kernel
Hi, I'm looking for a patch to the redhat 2.4 kernel to add Unicode support to smbfs. My particular version is 2.4.26. I searched the list archives and found someone named Urban Widmark claimed to have a patch for 2.4.18, but his URL is outdated. If anyone has this patch, please let me know -- this would help me greatly. Thanks! - Julian

New maintainer needed for the Linux smb filesystem
Since Urban Widmark was not active for some time, and I didn't have any success trying to reach him, it seems we need a new maintainer for the smb filesystem in the Linux kernel. Is there anyone who both feels qualified and wants to become the new maintainer? cu Adrian -- "Is there not promise of rain?" Ling Tan asked suddenly out of the darkness. There had

How to modify environment variables before executing a command
Hi, I'd like to access and modify shell environment variables before executing a command on a remote host via ssh. Unfortenatly, I can't figure out the proper way to do this... It seems, standard shell configuration files (e.g. ~/.bash_profile) are not sourced before ssh executes a command. Of course I could explicitly source them, e.g. ssh user at host 'source ~/.bash_profile;

smbfs and cifs
I periodically see smbfs questions get asked on this list, and they usually get one of two responses: 1. smbfs is a kernel module; this list is not the appropriate place to be asking smbfs questions. 2. You should be using cifs instead. (Please let me know if either if these is incorrect.) I was surprised to see, however, that the smbmount / mount.smbfs manpage makes no mention of cifs as being
