fst - err:dosmem:setup_dos_mem
I've installed (maybe not sucessfully) wine 20041201, fst 1.6 and jack_fst-1.2. I'm using jack-0.99 When I try and execute jack_fst such as: #jack_fst Crystal.dll I receive the following error: err:dosmem:setup_dos_mem Cannot use first megabyte for DOS address space, please report can't connect to JACK I assume that the first error message is from wine. Is that true? I

Wine question - sort of... program that ran now crashes
Hi, I run Gentoo on my audio box and for the last few weeks have been using a fairly complex setup that uses Wine-20040505. In this environment I am able to run small Windows apps called 'VSTs' under Wine and using Jack for pretty much real time audio performance. It had been working very well. From a Linux perspective the signal flow looked a bit like:

Managed windows
I find that for most applications, having managed="Y" is best, but for some applications I'd like to be able to launch them managed="N". I've been googling and it seems that in the past this was possible with a command line parameter, but it seems that this is no longer available. I'm using the 20050524 (i think) version of wine. Is there anyway for me to launch

A question about debugging apps
Hi, Taking a break for a few minutes from my fst/jack_fst work I decided to try a quick install of Myst, an old game that has, at various times, installed, not installed, worked or not worked with Wine. (According to the app database.) Anyway, I wanted to try it out so, to cause as few problems as possible for my existing Wine installation, I created a new user account named myst and then

Unhandled exception launching games from Steam
So after years of running a 'pure' Linux machine, I finally decided to install Wine so I could play some of my old games - and it's been a disaster. Using either Wine 1.5.3 or 1.3.3 trying to launch Half-Life Source results in nothing happening, trying to launch from the commandline gives this stack trace: Code: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address

Rspec not finding my examples
I am following the examples in chapter 2 of "Rails 3 in Action" and for some reason I have to specify the full path + file name to get my specs to run. The book and rspec docs led me to believe that I should be able to just type ''rspec'' and rspec would find any spec files in a directory called spec. I even tried adding a .rspec file with "--default_path spec"

Group permisions
ssh supports an override for StrictModes which allows a user to use group-writable .ssh directories. Is there an easy way to make openssh do this (I didn't see options in the source)? Or is this worth adding? Rafi

VPN in Windows?
Is there any chance that the VPN feature of the client can be ported to Windows (such that even non-Cygwin Windows programs would be able to use it) any time in the near future? It seems like many people would find this feature useful on Windows. If not, is there any other way to accomplish the OpenSSH VPN thing with other free tools? Thanks,

Debugging advice
Hi folks, I am trying to debug a scientific / engineering application called SRIM (www.srim.org, particularly the batch-mode version of SRIM 2003 called "SRModule"). This is my first experience with a debugger like winedbg, so I am still learning how best to use it. My question for now is: given a known breakpoint, and a value to watch (in this case $ecx), is there an easy way to find

Mounting file shares in UTF-8
Hi, I've searched for lots of messages similar to this, but none as detailed as this, and I haven't seen an answer that helps me. I have a Win 2000 machine that has some file shares on it. These shares are international; files and directories have characters from many languages. The system codepage is set to 932. I'm using the smb binaries from samba 3 to mount these shares on a
