(no subject)
Hi!
Half an hour ago I installed wine-20041201 under Mandrake Linux 9.1,
successfully I think.
On my PC I also have a partition with Windows 98 in it, correctly mounted.
I installed Wine with the main purpose of properly writing and reading documents
in MS Word, since neither kword, nor Open Office kwrite nor even abiword
achieve this purpose in a satisfaying way.
Now, probably I haven't

Generating QFs from same sample
Dear All
I am kind of stuck up with a code a part of which seems to be causing a
problem, or at least I think so. May be the community can help me. It’s
simple but I suppose I am missing something.
I generate a data matrix X, say of order n*p, where n represents
independent row-vectors and p correlated col vectors. Let the row
representation be X = (X’_1, . . ., X’_n)’. I generate the

using zlib in a package: problems in windows
Dear All,
I am having trouble getting an R package to build and install
correctly under Windows. In this package, which builds and checks OK
under Linux, I use zlib (among other functions, gzprintf).
As mentioned by Prof. Ripley a while back, the file "CHANGES" under
src/gnuwin32 says explains that to, to use zlib, one has to set
$(ZLIB_LIBS) in PKG_LIBS. I have a Makefile.win with

Seagate floppy creator program doesnt work
Hi there,
http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/download/seatoold_en.exe
Seagate offers a Windows executable (needs Win98 or better, 1,9MB) that
should create 2 bootable floppy disks that contain a harddrive check
program.
Invoking "wine seatoold_en.exe" works, but when the floppy should be
written, an error occurs "insert 1.44 MB...click retry". I tried to

Problems with Delphi 3 on SAMBA
Hi,
We have a Sun running SAMBA and have a problem with a share which contains
Delphi 3 source code. Compilations on large projects fail, with the .EXE
file stopping generation at ~2Mb, although compilations of the same code on
an NT drive are fine.
Delphi 1 seems to work fine on the SAMBA drive, creating files of >3.5Mb, so
it does not seem to be a file size problem either.
Can anyone shed

need help on writing a plugin
Hey all,
I''ve just "script/generate plugin my_plugin" and I would like to
"overload" one of my view. Say I have app/views/sessions/new.html.erb
and I would like to rewrite that file without touching it using the
plugin. Any idea how to do this? I would also like to do the same
thing with models and controllers of my application. I couldn''t find a

bzip2 directory won't build on OSF1 due to C99 code and -std1 option (PR#7257)
Full_Name: Michael Hoffman
Version: 2.0.0-beta-20041001
OS: OSF1 V5.1
Submission from: (NULL) (193.62.199.8)
Hello. Building R 2.0.0-beta-20041001 on OSF1 V5.1 failed because the default
configure sets R_XTRA_CFLAGS to "-std1 -ieee_with_inexact." The bzip2 directory
includes C99 code that requires -std1 to not be set in order to compile. This
halts the overall build process.

Re: Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
Thank you Rsay, it was a nice try, but I could not get this to work with my Logitech mic. For the record I have it (the microphone, that is) set up so that it works fine in Audacity.
After opining Wine configure, dmesg gives me lots of these:

How does one get a microphone working through WINE?
Hey guys,
I have been LANing with a few friends and we use a program called TinyTalk. It loads just fine, and I can connect/be connected to over the network. The only issue is that my mic doesn't work through it.
My mic is working in Linux, so I figured WINE isn't hooking to my mic. Any idea?
All the help is appreciated.

Re: Rosetta Stone Microphone Detection
The original post in this thread was never answered, and I too was requesting help on the same subject -since as of yet, this issue remains unresolved.
So, to recap, Rosetta Stone is installed and running, but can't detect my microphone (analogue, or the USB headset that comes with the software).
Since Rosetta Stone is reported as fully functional under WINE, I am asking for advice, in terms
