[PATCH 0/4] nouveau fixes for RPM/Optimus-related hangs
Hi, Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches). An older (obsolete) patch for the first issue was tested by the reporter: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104791#c11 (it is replaced by "check for function 0x1B

PROBLEM: new kernel 3.15.0-rc8 hangs completely with CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU enabled
First off, the current state of support for Maxwell (GM107/NV110) is not very useful to end-users. It's especially not useful if it's a 3d accelerator card without outputs (as yours appears to be), since acceleration is not supported in 3.15 out of the box. You'd have to figure out how to extract the context switching firmware from the blob driver and load it in nouveau. I'm told

PROBLEM: new kernel 3.15.0-rc8 hangs completely with CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU enabled
Yes, you are right - the Intel-chip is connected to the display, it just offloads 3D work to do to the nVidia-chip, which isn't even to tell how to get the EDID. I just wanted to try it out, simply for two reasons: 1. I heard that nouveau now "supports" the chip, and since I got the hardware, I wanted to try it out - just for the fun of it. :) 2. As far as I am informed, a way to

PROBLEM: new kernel 3.15.0-rc8 hangs completely with CONFIG_DRM_NOUVEAU enabled
Hello, guys. First apologize my flaws, I am not a native English speaker and thus am prone to stupid errors. My box is an ASUSTek Notebook with Optimus capability (no, this is NOT about Optimus, I don't try to use Optimus yet, so please don't switch off here) with a running Gentoo. The first GPU is an Haswell-based Intel chip, the second one is a nVidia GeForce GTX 850M, the chip is a

Handling GeForce GTX 850M GPU on Arch Linux
Hello all, I've juste installed a new computer and I feel like I'm having trouble with my NVIDIA GPU but it could be something else so I've enclosed detailed output. As you can see in [lspci] output, my GPU is `NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 850M] (rev a2)` whose specification can be found in [specs]. The trouble I'd like to solve has the following symptoms: -->

Nouveau: kernel hang on Optimus+Intel+NVidia GeForce 1060m
Hi, I have an Optimus-enabled laptop with a GTX 1060m. I never got it to fully work with Nouveau even after Pascal support was added. I need to run the kernel with nouveau.runpm=0 to get it to work. Unfortunately without proper power mangement support, my laptop will run out of battery after about 1h30, so I'd love to get Optimus working. What I can see is that when the extra GPU is not in

Re: Networking issues in host
I realize this falls under the category of "so incredibly vague I should maybe not send it", so I have low expectations and apologize beforehand if it's just pure noise. That being said - it appears that the whole HOST system becomes laggy. It can effect the mouse, the keyboard, the network. There are no messages in the logs that I can find that indicate the system is blocked or

Only 2.5G of RAM available then syslinux64.efi boots 32-bit linux 686-pae
Hello, I'm booting linux-3.16-686-pae kernel (32-bit) via syslinux.efi 64-bit version. After boot linux sees only 2.5G of RAM while system has 32G installed. If I boot the same kernel with GRUB64 efi instead of syslinux then amount of RAM available to linux is 32G. Is this a bug or I'm missing something? syslinux.cfg: label live-686-pae menu label Linux (686-pae) menu
